Bio
June Caravel is a vocal explorer. Vocal because she didn’t hesitate to do an entire album
with only her voice as instrument: The A Cappella Sessions.
Explorer because she‘s always developing new ways of making, recording and
promoting music.
In 2007 thanks to Sellaband and 684 generous believers from all over the
world she raised $50,000 and recorded her first album And Maybe A Tree Will
Rise Out Of Me... in Weed, California under her former artist name T-ka. The soul-pop record was produced by Sylvia Massy (Prince, Skunk Anansie) and supported by a crowd of hugely talented musicians:
guitarist Jeff Pevar (Ray Charles, Crosby Stills & Nash), drummer Stevie D
(David Gilmour, Crosby Stills & Nash), bassist Tibo Barbillon (Nouvelle
Vague) and horn-player Bill Holloman (Nile Rodgers, Diana Ross). She then moved
to London in 2009 and after seeing Bobby McFerrin & Richard Bona live, she
discovered the limitless possibilities offered by the human voice and decided
to try her hand at A Cappella singing. She started experimenting new songs and
her loop pedal and soon became June Caravel.
After that June went back to good old Europe and settled in Hanover, Germany in September 2012
and started exploring yet another way to do concerts by performing at the homes
of guests and fans between Germany and The Netherlands. In February 2013 she
won the Hanover city prize “Kre(h)tiv”. June moved back to Paris in October
2014 but is honouring Hanover by preparing a song and a video about the city in
French which will be released in 2015…
