"I like the warm sound of this post grunge affair which is both big and heavy, this band stand somewhere between Incubus and Staind soundwise - we get 5 really good songs that will please both fans of tough modern rock a la Breaking Benjamin and Cold but also grunge bands like Creed and Default.
The band deliver kick ass rockers in "Throwing stones" and "Return to me" plus the strong ballad "I won't back down", I love the vocal harmonies from Dwayne Hedges on the heavy "What it's made me" that bring thoughts to Atomic Opera and Galactic Cowboys." - Kaj Roth

So who would that be in today’s scene? Who are the next big acts to look out for that could make their claim for best in Dallas?
Here are my 5 picks to keep an eye on.
.....
#4. June Halo. This band seemed to get lost in the “in between” in trying to find their own identity. With members from Monkeyshyne, Pulling Wool, and other notable bands, they just got a strong boost by Matt Moseman (formerly of Edgewater) joining up and that put them squarely on the map as a band to watch out for.
So who will it be? There are many other bands of note such as Moving Atlas who can make a run and newcomer to the scene Escaping Gravity is off to a solid start. As the best in Dallas moves on their own way leaving a void, there’s definitely a pool of talent waiting to keep their own push alive.

Bio
June Halo is an original outfit born from the Dallas Fort Worth music scene.
Their first EP, which was recorded with now departed vocalist Dwayne Hedges, was acclaimed as “one of the strongest releases” in Dallas for 2008.
June Halo could be classified as modern rock, or “hard rock”, but there are elements to their writing that sets their sound apart from the masses.
The core members of Brent Dodson (guitars), Troy Gustin (drums) and Keith Westheimer (bass) continues with the addition of another guitarist Ian Whitcomb, and former Of Kora vocalist, Brandon Winters.
The band often colloborates with Texas producer David Castell (Edie Brickell, Blue October, The Toadies, Mothers Anthem, Descender).
“A broad mix of melodic rock with cleverly crafted lyrics. Each song is distinguishable from the next.”
