June Vonsway a.k.a Tommy O'Banner ,has been doing rap/hip-hop for 15 years. Born and raised in Ypsilanti, Michigan, Tommy's life was far from being ordinary. At a young age, June Vonsway was taught how to survive in the violent stricken streets, where the only means of expression was through guns , knives, or most of all through their fists. As a youngster June Vonsway sold drug because he felt that was the only way to make it. After becoming wiser June Vonsway knew that he had to find other ways of self expression, and so he turned to rap. June Vonsway encountered his first freestyle battle when he was in the sixth grade it was in the school's cafeteria. Although at this stage in his life he wasn't the greatest lyricist, he kept practicing everyday. In 2000 at the age of 19 June Vonsway signed with CEO Lynn Copeland At Westgrand Records were his stage name was "OPT The Game Hustler". Unfortunately June Vonsway had to experience life the hard way. One cold evening when a man decided to cut June Vonsways throat in order to take his coat making it hard for June Vonsway to communicate in order to get help. Luckily June Vonsway survived and wants people to know, "Don't think the scars are why I'm rapping. To put it short and simple I was in the wrong place at the wrong time." June Vonsway will speak about the situation, but does not want to be known for his scars or his rough life but more for his talent's and ability to entertain those who want to be entertained. This incident came during the time he was recording my first album with Westgrand Records. In 2005 June Vonsway put out is first album "OTGH" which is a classic! In 2007 Lynn started having money issues and wanted June Vonsway to pay for shows. Lynn decided to part way’s and pursue an R/B solo career. So, between 2007- 2008 with his hard work, focus and determination June Vonsway was his own CEO. In the Spring of 2008 June VonSway signed with his longtime friend Kirby Easley who was starting his record label E Muzic Group. Now with a loyal team that consist of Kirby Easley, Edric Lewis and Jeff Smith behind him, who are friends first, June Vonsway can do what he loves. June Vonsway has opened up show for the powerhouses of Rick Ross , Shawty Low, Trick Trick and has headlined his own show at the Emerald Theater in Mt. Clemens, MI. June Vonsway is getting spins on multiple internet radio station across the country. June Vonsway is pleased with his beginning success but is looking forward to more.
June Vonsway feels he never has a point to prove, and is ready for all the haters. June Vonsway says when you are listening to my music " expect the unexpected. " June Vonsway spits from his point of view and his experiences on what really happen in life. . " My time is now and all I can do is stay focused. Don't compare me to no other rapper because I'm me and I’m going to do me. My career is just starting and I am ready to make a power move to the top . Watch out world because here I come!
