Bio

Junichi Matsumoto is a composer, arranger, and performer who is known for his innovative experiments with piano and the electone, a kind of electronic organ that is unique to Japan. Awarded first prize in the International Electone Competition, Matsumoto has composed experimental soundscapes for the dance company Mito Art Theater, and his critically acclaimed collaboration with Pappa Tarahumara has been performed in over thirty countries around the world. His pieces have been performed by CAPUT ensemble in Reykjavik, and Matsumoto was the opening act for Apparat Organ Quartet when they performed at NASA last year.
