"Junior X Getting Success"

Since the release of his recent chart topping hit single The Pill late last summer, reggae artist Junior X has been steadily reclaiming his place on the local music scene. The artist whose repertoire includes hits such as Plead My Cause, Free Up Yourself, Seek Your Goals and Freedom is currently heating up the airwaves with another hit bound track titled Gangster Life.
Gangster Life was recorded on a very bouncy one drop beat and features X’ razor sharp lyrics; which warn the youths about the dangers of Gangster Life as he sings “Gangster life aint no joke, I best advise you stay out, once you’re in death is the only way out” in the punch-line of the song. Gangster Life was released in January and is already racing up the charts both locally and abroad. Its accompanying music which was creatively done to highlight the songs strong anti-crime message, is also enjoying good support from local television stations as well overseas music video outlets such as Canada’s Much Music.

Junior X says that he is very happy with the response the song has been receiving and he is very thankful to all the people who are playing it. He also related that it makes him feel good to know that the message in the music is reaching the people.

“I am a man who believes that one must always strive to improve one’s self and while doing so one must also try to help others to improve themselves, because I am not a selfish man. Therefore I always make music that can uplift people from all walks of life, especially the youths who are so easily influenced. When I look at what is happening in the world today with so much violence and crime especially right here in our own country I had to record Gangster Life,” said Junior X.

Junior X whose real name is Richard White says that ever since he decided to become an artist he decided that he would use his talent in a positive way and he has never regretted that decision.

“It is a great privilege to be able to express myself musically and be able to connect with so many people around the world. Most of all I feel very happy to know people love my music and appreciate the message that my music conveys. Everywhere I go in the world people always tell me that my songs have touched them in a positive way,’ said Junior X.

His long awaited debut album which is being produced by Dennis Livingston the CEO of Revolutionary Entertainment will be released later this year. The album will feature a variety of thought provoking tracks. Several top producers and musicians such as Sly and Robbie, Bobby Digital, Demarco and Kirk ‘Kirkledove’ Bennett are involved with this project.

Junior X is currently on a two week promotional tour in the USA, while there he will be doing some shows in the Boston area and he will also be doing several promotional stops. - Jamaican Dancehall

"Artist Spotlight Junior X"

When the call is sounded for music warriors to assemble, one dedicated soldier rises; Junior X – Prince of the Battlefield! Using his faith in Rastafari, and the brilliance of lyrics that resonate with listeners, Junior X moves to eliminate negativity through story telling in song.

Born Richard White in Kingston, Jamaica, Junior X grew up with his mother Marjorie Major, who recognized his musical gift and encourage him. He attended the Home Basic School and the Elleston Primary School before completing his secondary education at Gaynstead High School. His love for music was innate and was fostered by his involvement in the school choir while he was in primary school.

While in High School, Junior X formed a group by the name of “The Brimstone Crew” with several youths from his community. Together they spent a lot of time penning lyrics and performing in the community. The group was later dismantled, leaving Junior X to pursue his musical ambitions on his own. “I used that as a learning experience,” said Junior X. “It helped to shape my vision for my career, and it also taught me that my motivation in music is not based on other people, but comes from within.”

In the early 1990’s, Daddy Screw, a friend of Junior X, introduced the young artist to producer, Dave Kelly. Kelly, known as a producer with an ear for talent, was impressed with Junior X’s writing skills, and encouraged the artist to develop his vocal skills. Taking Kelly’s advice, Junior X developed his vocal skills and approached Dennis Wright, then manager for the dynamic duo Chaka Demus and Pliers. While working with Dennis Wright he co-wrote several songs with the hit making duo and recorded an album that was unreleased.

In 2002, Junior X stormed the music charts and radio playlists around the world with singles “Plead My Cause,” “Freedom” and “Seek Your Goal,” which was released on the Herbs House Entertainment Label. The popularity of this artist was in such demand that he performed and toured in Japan, the United States and the Bahamas. He also continued to record for several other labels and performed on major events such as Champions in action (2006), Rebel Salute (2007), and Bob Marley Birthday Celebrations (2007).

In mid 2009, Junior X signed a 3 year management deal with Revolutionary Entertainment. During that time, Junior X released the first single from his debut album, which is slated for release in 2010, entitled “The Pill.” Produced by Dennis Livingston, CEO of Revolutionary Entertainment, the release of “The Pill” was a huge success landing it on music charts in Jamaica and the United States. Shortly after the release of the single, the video, which was directed by Nordia Rose, was released and also found its way on several charts. The video is currently enjoying airplay on CVM TV’s Hit List show, Reggae Chart at number 5. It is also number 5 on the RETV MVP Charts and number 7 on Suzie Q’s Video Alley Reggae Top Ten Charts.

Junior X is currently on a ten day promotional tour (November 14 – 23, 2009) in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Philadelphia.

Bio

Junior X aka The Prince Of the Battle Field is a talented Rastafarian chanter whose inspiration comes from the most high. Armed with music he is on a mission to eliminate negativity. Talented, inspirational, superb and unique are just the least of words to describe Junior X whose real name is Richard White. He was born in the Winward Road area of Rockfort, in east Kingston, where he grew up with his mother Marjorie Major. He attended the Home Basic School and the Elletson Primary School before completing his secondary education at Gaynstead High School. His love for music is innate and was fostered by his involvement in the school choir while he was in primary school.

While in high school Junior X formed a group called The Brimstone Crew along with several other youths from his community. Together they spent a lot of time penning lyrics and performing in the community. Eventually Junior X was left all alone to pursue his musical ambitions on his own as the group broke up because several of its members migrated from the community.

In the early 1990s his friend Daddy Screw took him to top flight producer Dave Kelly’s studio. He auditioned for Dave Kelly who was very impressed with his writing skills, but thought he was not ready to start recording at the time and advised him to work on his vocal skills. As faith would have it a few years later he linked up with Dennis Wright who was the manager of Chaka Demus & Pliers. While working with Dennis Wright he co-wrote several songs with the hit making duo. Junior X also recorded an unreleased album for Dennis Wright.

In 2002 it seemed as if Junior X had finally gotten the break he dreamt of when he began working with Herbs House Entertainment. He recorded an album for this company which is still unreleased. However the company released several singles from the album all of which became big hits in Jamaica when released in 2005. These singles are Plead My Cause, Freedom, Seek Your Goal.

The following year Junior X stopped working with Herbs House Entertainment because of irreconcilable differences. However this did not stop his career from flourishing. As a result of his popularity there was a demand for him to perform overseas in countries such as Japan, the US and the Bahamas. He also continued to record for several other labels and performed on major events locally such as Champions in action (2006), Rebel Salute (2007), Bob Marley Birthday Celebrations (2007).

Junior X is now looking forward to an even bigger and brighter career under the guidance of his new management company and record label Revolutionary Entertainment. He is currently working on an album for Revolutionary Entertainment.
