"A Radical Spin on Music"

"With their blend of alt-country and surf, Juniper Rising put a radical spin on music of the past while remaining in the present. The band cites early country and western music as an influence, but you’ll find a fair share of Spaghetti Western elements in there as well…" - The Deli Magazine

"Timeless"

"Juniper Rising takes the suggestion and jumps about five steps ahead, sinking their self-declared reverence for Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline and other boldly un-urban legends. Their debut cassette, out now via noted rock peddlers Burger Records, pulls off that neat trick of sounding timeless while also clearly being the product of 2013…" - L Magazine

"Captivating Mix of Lo-Fi Surf Rock and Country-Western"

"The Brooklyn-based-four-piece has been together for only a year, but their captivating mix of lo-fi surf rock and country-western has already garnered a lot of media attention: their hazy, twangy tunes will put you right in the middle of a modern-day western film…" - Pittsburgh City Paper

Bio

'It should not be mistaken, Juniper Rising is not country, or at least not country as its known today, because they have made a giant leap and progression from the country they've been influenced by, but are in no way related to the country of today. For a word that should be used lightly, in all intents and purposes, Juniper Rising truly are pioneers, because there is no one doing anything like this as cohesively and consistently spot on as they are. In recent years a few other bands have tried something similar, but only with this band has everything fallen into place.

They are what country music should have become; not the slick hagiographies to the pickup trucks and Dixie flag beer cozies of modern country. Elvis Costello himself remarked that his early demo Radio Sweetheart wasnt country at all, but merely perceived so because it featured steel guitar. Yes, they are influenced by the mysticism and swagger of outlaw country and the melodicism of the Nashville Sound, but theres also a vitality imbued in their sound inherent from other genres.

Juniper Rising are of their and on their own. While they have peers and contemporaries, there is absolutely no one else like them. They exist in a parallel universe where Country evolved into something entirely new, and separate while still paying a large debt to Don Gibson, Waylon Jennings, and Loretta Lynn. Juniper Rising builds living, breathing tributes to the traditions of the past while constructing something different and firmly planted in the present.

New Yorks Juniper Rising set a bold path with their debut tape on Burger Records, but they truly cemented their sound on this 7. Its almost overwhelming how genuinely fresh and exciting what theyre doing is. The production, instrumentation, and vocals are perfect in every single way, but whats even more important is that their identity has fully blossomed. Days of Heaven is released on 307 Knox Records, and I cant  stress enough the importance of picking up a copy'
