Bio

Junker are a 5 piece post-hardcore / alternative rock group that formed in Crewe, United Kingdom. Combining heavy rock, hardcore punk, indie and funk into a thunderous bass driven sound-hole assault. Since the recording of their debut EP, 'Night of the Long Knives', Junker have pushed onwards and upwards, growing as performers and songwriters and pushing themselves to new audiences as the months have passed.

Junker was formed by Gavin “Gash” Ashley out of the ashes of two other bands, Emotional Baggage and Def Penalty. Emotional Baggage won the first South Cheshire / North Staffordshire Battle of the Bands in 1997. Def Penalty played to critical acclaim around the country between 1999 and 2003 before they disbanded just before supporting Feeder and the Lost Prophets.

Junker have a strong rock pedigree. Gash toured the USA in 2001 as stand in singer for the legendary punk band, Skeptix. Dylan is the son of Mott the Hoople’s original guitarist and grew up in and around Rockfield studio in Monmouth with a guitar in his hand. All members of Junker are stage and studio hardened having played in various other projects. Their first self-financed EP, was recorded in 2009, produced by Punk legend, Steve “Fish” Brookes from the Skeptix in his studio, The Madhouse.

Over the past year they have played on the same stage as the Levellers as well as performing a number of well received headline gigs. They tested their metal in the Live and Unsigned national contest and dropped the judges jaws in the semi-finals, with their rendition of a Cliff Richard classic.

Junker are looking to grow and develop organically in the way they develop as a band. They believe in themselves, their abilities and hard work, but they know that word of mouth, networking and pushing the right interweb buttons these days are essential. “We’ve developed a strong and loyal following so far” says Gash, “we’re inspired and honoured by everyone’s support so far. We know that we’re not going to be to everyone’s taste, but that’s the real fun part, reeling in new fans to the dark side”
