“Junkyard Scientists have unearthed the perfect floor-filling equation. Seriously one of the best bands I’ve had on the show.” - Linda Serck, BBC Berkshire

Junkyard Scientists are a 7-piece funk and soul outfit, born from the thriving music scenes around London and Reading. With a passion for live performance and a do-it-yourself mentality, Junkyard have honed and fine-tuned a stage show that has risen the bar wherever they’ve played.

Influenced by soul/ funk pioneers such as George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Curtis Mayfield and Stevie Wonder, Junkyard Scientists pair the big band sound of classic soul & funk with the contemporary styles of Timbaland, Jamiroquai and Michael Jackson.

Junkyard Scientists established themselves in Reading by running and promoting one of the most successful live music nights in town: ‘That’s The Jam’, at The Global Cafe. After they launched their debut EP at Zavvi Megastore, Junkyard then became the first unsigned band to play the main stage at the Reading University Summer Ball. (supporting Ash, The Cut Up Boys and Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly.).

The band now have a joint residency with London dance promoters Graffiti Breakz and have joined the music collective Raison D'Etre/ Reason2b. From supporting bands like The Beat, Portico Quartet & The Cuban Brothers to playing at The Troubadour & Camden Jazz Cafe, it is clear to promoters & audiences alike that the Junkyard party is not to be missed!

"Junkyard Scientists' gigs aren't about the stage, they're about the dancefloor!" - James Milloy, musflash TV

"Junkyard Scientists manage to add a whole new history and vitality to funk music, twisting it into a fresh new Hip Hop bitten beast. The tunes are all carefully manipulated, yet delivered with such verve and musical desire that heart and head can't help but agree. Junkyard Scientists - better than sex and nothing like Lenny Kravitz." - Luisa Garcia, Blah Blah Magazine
