"The Roxy Raves- Stevie B"

Shauna McAllister has got pizazz! She also has "style, grace, and a real pretty face, she got savoir faire". She also has Nathan Tinkham and Mike Mead backing her up at The Roxy for her full blown, kick-out-the-footlights alt country hootenanny concert. You may have seen Shauna cavorting about always seemingly madly off in all directions, kids in tow to only God who knows where-but you know those kids are having a ball. She drags fun, oft-times kicking and screaming along with her everywhere she goes and this night will be no exception. She has an amazing voice, first class song selection and stage presence up the yin-yang. I'd guess anyone who likes Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch will be thrilled with this concert. - The Sounder

"Whats On Music- Jupiter Jill Sept 2013"

Dark pop with a Southern twist of lime on the rocks! This is how Shauna McAllister describes her original music band "Jupiter Jill". Shauna moved to Nanaimo from Calgary to try and make her dreams of a music career come true.
The Queens weekly jam proved to be the unlikely ticket for her blossoming success. The weekly downtown jam provided a stage and new friendships that honed her self-described "Sword of Song" to create her dream sound found in Jupiter Jill. The name had to reflect the message in the music that common people people "Jill" can achieve great things if they reach for the stars (Jupiter!).
Shauna was fortunate enough to meet Rick Salt, renowned producer and sound engineer. Rick heard Shauna singing her songs about nursing homes, Canadian outlaws and crooning cowgirls and ended up producing her first album at his iconic Lois Lane Studios, thus giving her some pretty big flight wings.
This album landed Jupiter Jill on the music-map and is garnering her recognition as a savvy songwriter and formidable force in music. Recently Shauna was named one of Canada's top emerging artists. With upcoming album "Nevada" recorded at Broken Spiral Studio's due out this Fall. Jupiter Jill's newest record is a collection of her interesting favorite original songs like "Cracker Jack" which combines a David Lynch feel, with dark blue-grass, trance-like melodies in a tune about struggling to realize your dreams. Or like "Cowgirls" where a Klezmer circus waltz takes us away in it's encapsulating revelries of a deceased beloved cowboy. Rocky, bluesy, country or any other way Shauna McAllister chooses.
Jupiter Jill has landed a spot in everyone's hearts and tells a tale through song for every mind. Shauna's heart is for the people, but has a head for business as well. She handles almost all aspects of her music career herself, but credits Nanaimo's open armed, tightly-knit music community for her flash landing into the industry. - Whats On Digest

"All-ages festival fun free local concert"

A local car lot is soon going to turn into a showcase for a host of impressive musical talents. Newcastle Nissan is planning to hold it:s first annual music festival on Aug.3. Donations made at the event will go to the Nanaimo Hospice society. The free afternoon is being billed as an afternoon of family fun.
There's stuff for the kids to do, like face painting and an inflated castle for kids to jump around in, but performer and event organizer Shauna McAllister said the music at the event features some of the best local musicians and bands.
Australian folk and rock singer Kim Churchill is headlining the event, but the line-up also includes The Distributors, McAllister's group Jupiter Jill Band and Eric Harper.
McAllister, also known by her stage name Jupiter Jill, said the bands will provide an impressive variety of local music styles.
She said the event also allows parents to attend a proper music concert with their kids, without breaking the bank. She has two young children herself: "I want to take them to festivals, but I can't afford the 65$ ticket," she said.
People who attend the Aug.3 event may also get a preview of some new material, as The Distributors launch a debut album this month.
"These are like teenagers that grew up going to the Rock School, but they have just blossomed. I love this band," McAllister said.
McAllister is preparing new material of her own for an album called "Nevada".
