Jupiter One: Originality at its Best
Straight out of Brooklyn, this New York indie band produce vintage sounds, ground breaking noise and infuse a wide range of influences into their music. With their debut album out now, Alex Chin gives the heads up on whether this band is a one to watch.
After realising that Jupiter One had decided to ‘originally’ include an intro track in a style that is completely removed from the rest of the music on the album I immediately wanted to criticise the rest of the album. However, this proved to be quite hard.
The album is very strong with the majority of tracks being reminiscent of trend-bucking bands such as Everclear. One may draw comparisons to bands such as Franz Ferdinand, the Killers or Bloc Party but Jupiter’s album doesn’t feel as constructed as albums produced by mainstream commercial-powerhouse bands such as these.
I recommend taking the time to really get to know this album, it is worth it.
