Chicago, Illinois, USA

Talented in more ways than one, Chicago native JusLove captures all the elements of music. His talents of songwriting and singing shines through eloquently in his smooth and raw sounds.

JusLove is self-taught on guitar, piano, and bass and only after playing for two years, accompanied Jeff Tweedy of the highly acclaimed band Wilco at Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium in 2008. He has opened for and played with well known acts such as Dwele, Lupe Fiasco and Rhymefest, and was also an award winner in the 8th Annual Great American Song Contest. Other notable performances includes the Taste of Chicago.
From popping his shoulders to Michael Jackson at family reunions as a kid to having 6 songs featured in the 2010 award winning documentary Louder Than A Bomb, he is continually evolving as a singer/songwriter & musician.

Born on October 4th, 1988, as Lamar J. Smith and raised on the South Side of Chicago, JusLove has been fascinated with music from birth. Instead of turning to gangs and violence, as was common for youth in his neighborhood, JusLove fell in love with music, relying on it to keep him out of trouble. He has self- released two albums in tandem with emcee/poet Nate "Illuminate Mics" Marshall as the hip-hop group Daily Lyrical Product.

JusLove has a wide variety of influences from Kanye West to Led Zeppelin. What attracts JusLove to so many different styles of music is the good songwriting and composition that can be found in each of them. It is a principle that resides at the core of JusLove’s own music: making a song the best song it can be, regardless of style or genre and capturing the elements of music. More importantly his sound is inspired by LOVE; the love of creativity, the love of people….the love of music. JusLove continues to be present on the Chicago music scene, performing at local open mics, talent shows and college showcases.

Fool (feat. Illuminate Mics)

Fool (N. Marshall, L. Smith)

[Chorus] I don’t know what makes me this way (this way)
All I ever wanna do is love you (love you)
Sometimes I drive you crazy (crazy)
And some things I say may hurt you but (hurt you)
I’m just a fool I’m just a man (just a fool)
I don’t know how to change who I am (just a man, a man, a man)
I’m just a fool I’m just a man
I don’t know how to change who I am

[Vs 1] If I could stop thinking other girls were pretty
Or ignore them when they flirt with me
But you know it won’t go nowhere
I wanna be with you when I got no more hair
My lungs no more air despite flaws
Tight like a pair of white draws be fitting on me
If your girls could stop telling you that they kissing on me
Yea you see them hitting on me but I’m only being polite
You the only woman that I’m gone be seeing tonight
And you the only one I see in my life
If I stopped lying then you’d stop spying
And I ain’t denying that I aint perfect but I’m trying
And If I did the things that he did then you wouldn’t want me
And he’d be the one you’d be with
Love is real as the stories that I tell in the booth
If only you’d believe me when I’m telling the truth

[V2] Wanna be honest as I speak yo you the one that I really need so
This letter is a hit or a Shaq from the free throw
Me though I’m learning how to keep your
Heart carefully I been growing from a Chico
Need to be that change you believe in see and
I’m trying to be with you ‘til my breathing ceasing
Love for eternity I’m seeking we can
Achieve that fact like fraternities I be in
I’ve not been the best many women I’ve used
But you want a new note different pitch I like blues
Different hues and I’m through playing you cheap so
The pimp in me is feeling like his older brother’s Tito
See so this is it in the future picture us
Consider you the wings my Icarus
Be with me ‘til I fall down happy when you call now
Know we’ll be together ‘til my bodies all ground

[Bridge] I’m stupid maybe this is proven true but
My music maybe you’ll be grooving too
Call you on the phone pray I’m never loosing you
A rolling stone but you’re the goal I’m moving too
My music maybe you’ll be grooving too
Call you on the phone pray I’m never loosing you
A rolling stone but you’re the goal I’m moving too

Just a fool Just a man, a man a man
I’m just a fool just a man

Like You (feat. Britney Delagraentiss)

Like You (B. Delagraentiss, L. Smith)

[Vs 1] I know a love that will never die will never fade
Even when I’m gone and my grave is long forgotten
No one will ever love me like you
You do, you do, you do, you do

[Vs 2] I know a love that reaches to the deepest part of me
Crazy as I can be I don’t see the reason maybe
I won’t understand it but no one will ever love me like you
You do, You do, You do, You do

[Bridge] I’ve never known a love a love as strong as this before
A love that keeps on giving even when I’m ungrateful
I don’t think it’s fair I don’t deserve it I’ve done nothing good to earn it
But I’ll say thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, Jesus

[Vamp] I just want to say thank you, can I say thank you,
please let me say thank you, thank you Lord (x5)
