Bio

JusLove is self-taught on guitar, piano, and bass and only after playing for two years, accompanied Jeff Tweedy of the highly acclaimed band Wilco at Chicago’s Soldier Field stadium in 2008. He has opened for and played with well known acts such as Dwele, Lupe Fiasco and Rhymefest, and was also an award winner in the 8th Annual Great American Song Contest. Other notable performances includes the Taste of Chicago.
From popping his shoulders to Michael Jackson at family reunions as a kid to having 6 songs featured in the 2010 award winning documentary Louder Than A Bomb, he is continually evolving as a singer/songwriter & musician.

Born on October 4th, 1988, as Lamar J. Smith and raised on the South Side of Chicago, JusLove has been fascinated with music from birth. Instead of turning to gangs and violence, as was common for youth in his neighborhood, JusLove fell in love with music, relying on it to keep him out of trouble. He has self- released two albums in tandem with emcee/poet Nate "Illuminate Mics" Marshall as the hip-hop group Daily Lyrical Product.

JusLove has a wide variety of influences from Kanye West to Led Zeppelin. What attracts JusLove to so many different styles of music is the good songwriting and composition that can be found in each of them. It is a principle that resides at the core of JusLove’s own music: making a song the best song it can be, regardless of style or genre and capturing the elements of music. More importantly his sound is inspired by LOVE; the love of creativity, the love of people….the love of music. JusLove continues to be present on the Chicago music scene, performing at local open mics, talent shows and college showcases.
