"Could She Be The New Amy Winehouse?"

While there is no replacing the memorable Amy Winehouse, Justinas Lord Have Mercy & and her unique execution left me wondering: Could she be the equivalent someday?

I said something almost blasphemous, and I realize it.

No one could replace Amy Winehouse, may she rest in peace.

But with what Winehouse was to music when she reigned queen, could Justina rise to such greatness in the future?

Her single, Lord Have Mercy has a style that you just cant shake. Her beauty and confidence radiate in the video, and her voice possesses a raspy, nostalgic grace.

Could she be what we've been missing?

When the song starts, you may be inclined (like I was) to think of it as elevator music. But to my surprise, the warped, twinkling instrumental, urban pinup-like style and her crisp, pure voice reminded me of the legendary Amy Winehouse.

Shes got the whole package, and I'm wondering how did I not find out about her sooner? She's got soul and shes got style, and to be able to stand out in a sea full of people trying to make it, shes set to catch the right peoples ears.

She considers herself a singer, songwriter and rapper, and names influences ranging from The Beatles to Tupac as inspiration. Shes been featured on popular shows like NBCs Smash and VH1s Mob Wives. It sounds like shes already pretty well connected, so being heavily circulated on the radio isnt too far away.

There has;t been staying power from new artists in the industry in a while to challenge heavyweights like Rihanna, Beyonc&, Adele and Lady Gaga. The junior market that includes stars Ariana Grande and Selena Gomez still has time (and room) to grow. Justina, along with recently acclaimed Lorde, are two ladies that have their style, sound and direction down pat and are notably marketable.

And it helps Justinas cause that she can incite thoughts of her similarity to the famed Amy Winehouse, of course. What do you think, readers?

Singer Justina is hard at work on her upcoming EP — ‘Valentine’ — and TheDrop.fm is premiering the video to ‘Lord Have Mercy,’ a sultry cut off the project.

The song itself features Justina crooning with her signature raspy, but controlled voice, which recalls bits of Amy Winehouse performances. It’s fitting for the slowly burning nature of the track.

The visual easily meshes with the song’s topic, as it combines religious imagery with sensuality and ambiance. An example of this is as the video ends, Justina toys with an apple and finally eats the forbidden fruit.

‘Valentine’ could be an intriguing release because of her wide range of influences from the Bealtes to Tupac Shakur. Shy Boogs, Infamous and the Heatmakerz will have production credits on the project as well.

The ‘Hard to the Body‘ songstress and former guest on MTV’s RapFix will release her ‘Valentine’ EP on Sept. 30.

City resident Justine "Justina" Cetinich entered the ShopRite Partners in Caring Expression of Hunger video contest in early 2010 and won. The prize was her photo on the back of 150,000 Cheerios boxes. She was in ShopRite in Little Falls on Sept. 8 to show off the boxes to family, friends and fans.

"I'm really excited and honored that I'm a part of this," said Justina.

With five other winners illustrating their views on hunger through poetry, dramatic reading and silent film, Cetinich said she wrote a song titled "Gotta Make a Change."

The song is about "bringing people together for a cause," she said, adding "every step is different."

The limited edition Cheerios boxes feature all six winners and are exclusive to ShopRite stores.

"I think it's cool that my music is being used to get people involved and bring knowledge [about hunger issues]," Cetinich said.

The aspiring singer's publicist discovered the contest on the social networking Web site Facebook and, as a "firm believer of donating time and money to good causes", Cetinich said she jumped at the chance to participate.

Cetinich said she wrote the lyrics and melody and worked with her musician father to learn the song on guitar. She then video recorded herself playing the song and sent in her submission.

When she learned of the win a couple of months later, she said she was surprised and ecstatic.

"Donating my time makes me feel good," the winner said, adding she has previously made various contributions to charities including Pinups for Pit Bulls, Inc., a nonprofit organization.

Riding the wave of her recent victory, Cetinich said she collected more than $200 during a successful fundraising event at Silk Lounge in Paterson on Sunday.

"I'm going to buy as many boxes of Cheerios as I can and bring them down to Eva's Kitchen [in Paterson] Wednesday morning," she said, adding she would like to help by serving as well. "I should get 50 or 60 boxes."

Born and raised in Clifton, Cetinich bounces around her hometown, New York City and the road to record, perform, model, act and tend bar.

"INTERVIEW WITH JUSTINA"

Born and raised in Passaic County, New Jersey, Justina grew up surrounded by music. Justina’s hip hop infused pop music is clearly a voice for the rebellious youth and her distinctive, raspy tone is hard to miss. Her strong and sometimes abrasive character, along with her fun-loving personality, is evident in tracks like the JR Rotem and Shy Boogs produced “Gangsta” and the Mr. Lee produced “Gloves Off”.

An avid supporter of writing her own music, Justina is a breath of fresh air in an industry where an artist’s point of view is sometimes hidden. Justina’s original composition, “Gotta Make a Change”, was selected for ShopRite’s Partners in Caring ‘Expressions of Hunger’ national contest and she was featured on the back of General Mill’s Cheerios box in September 2010. She has performed at numerous venues including The Market America International Conventions in Miami, FL and Greensboro, NC (for crowds of 30k), The Susan G. Komen for the Cure ‘Babes Burnin’ Rubber’ breast cancer benefit at Motorsports Park Millville, NJ, The China Club, 40/40, and the Atlantic City’s Pepsi Car Show. Justina’s music has also been featured on popular television shows such as NBC’S Steven Spielberg directed “Smash”, VH1’s “Mob Wives”, Oxygen Network’s “Runnin Russell Simmons”, and MTV’s “True Life”. Her video, ‘Hard to the Body’, recently appeared on Spike TV’s “Top 100 YouTube Videos".

Justina is about to release her upcoming mixtape, “Route 80”, produced by Shy Boogs, Skitzo & Ryan & Smitty.
She is also gearing up to perform in the 2012 Warped Tour in Holmdel, NJ, Darien Center, Ny, Scranton, PA, Mansfield, MA, Camden, NJ, Uniondale, NY, and Columbia, MA. - sofakingcoolonline.com

"Justina’s “Another Man’s Treasure”"

We’ve definitely seen in-your-face rapstress Justina‘s sassy side, via her “Bubble Gum” and “Hip Hop Joan Jett” videos. But the New Jersey MC shows off her vulnerability in the video for her Route 80 mixtape track “Another Man’s Treasure”. Of course, don’t get us wrong — she’s still full of fire and tongue-in-cheek rhymes here. “I’m like a cross between Adele and Eminem,” she announces at the beginning of the tune. But pay attention and you’ll hear Justina, who’s half-rapping, half-singing, detail a painful moment in a relationship gone south. Watch the video above.

“This song was fueled by a one insane liquor-filled evening, complete with a real life knock down, drag out brawl, breakup, weeks of anguish and self-realization,” Justina tells us about her inspiration for “One Man’s Treasure”, which marks a change of pace for her. She adds: “Hope my pain made for a good song. And remember, One man’s trash…”

"The beat is bouncing, the bubble gum is popping!"

The beat is bouncing, the bubble gum is popping, and the Milkshake hit-maker is back! Justina is getting ready to release her new mixtape, Route 80 this spring. Wildly suggestive and incredibly catchy, Justina ain’t no Justin Bieber. She is currently slated to play Warped Tour and she even talked a little bit about the single and her gum obsession (I wonder if it’s with Orbit.)

“I am so excited to premiere the first single off my Route 80 mixtape coming this spring. Bubble Gum’ is about having fun, feeling wild and sexy, and being yourself. I am currently a recovering gum addict and maybe this video will help me cut down from five packs a day to two. But I doubt it! So let’s get it poppin’. Hope you enjoy! Dirty mouth? Clean it up!” - collegedj.net

"Justina Gets A Reputation For Having Great, Funky Music - See more at: http://news.revolt.tv/justina-gets-a-reputation-for-having-great-funky-music/#sthash.TWdNTwdB.dpuf"

Justina is on the rise. If you haven’t already caught on to the young New Jersey native’s growing wave, do consider giving her a listen. The multifaceted young rapper/singer describes her music to us as “Hip-Pop,” and judging by records like the in-your-face “All Hoes Everything” (with Da Brat and Shawnna) and funky “Reputation”—she has a point. “It’s pop music and pop culture, but it’s also swagged out,” she continued. “It would be for like Fergie fans, Amy Winehouse fans and Nicki Minaj fans…. I’m just eclectic with it.” Watch as she speaks on her craft and what it felt like getting support from Da Brat and Shawnna. - REVOLT TV

"Justina Gasses on “scary bitches” with new hit single “Halloween”."

Hot New Jersey based artist Justina has a buzz blazing from coast to coast. Admittedly the curiosity killed the cat with me, hesitant at first, as I started to research Justina’s music and well packaged press materials, I found that she’s definitely on the road to being a household mainstream name. I was checking out her latest video release “Halloween” and was in hysterics watching her gass (diss) on fake chics; she flipped the whole concept of a “scary bitch” and made it a catchy hook in her new song. The production on this track is something for the club and if edited, the radio also. You can check out independent artist Justina by visiting http://justinamusic.com/about . One last thing worth mentioning to me is that this artist is very versatile and camera friendly; I love the variety of different looks displayed in her styling for her press picture on her website, this is a good look for fashion sponsors - JackThriller.com
