Bio

Some people are born to be a star. Others seem to stumble upon their talent. Growing up in the modest Midwest, singer / songwriter Justin Branam hardly remembers having much of an interest in music at a young age. Rather, Branam recalls a childhood full of climbing trees, riding bikes, and playing baseball with his brothers in the yard of their childhood home. It wasn't until entering his teens that he began to develop an ear for music. After being buried in a closet for years, Branam dug out a guitar belonging to his brother and began to pick away.

Now ten years later, at the age of twenty-three, Justin Branam can't seem to imagine life without music. A quick glimpse inside Branam's home reveals an assortment of instruments and musical artifacts including his beloved record collection. Citing influences such as Nick Drake, Bob Dylan, and The Beatles, Justin Branam writes songs that possess a value of familiarity while retaining a fresh appeal.

In 2006, Branam recorded his debut album with producer Andrew Osenga in Nashville, TN. Shying away from the trend of over-production that plagues many modern albums, 'Words Worth Mentioning,' is an honest attempt to showcase raw talent. The album was recorded in the time frame of only five days and often in only a few takes.

Though a fresh face, Justin Branam is already making a name for himself by joining acts on the road such as Mat Kearney, Blessid Union of Souls, Matt Wertz, Dave Barnes, Mute Math, and Andy Davis. Currently Branam lives in Nashville, TN where he is writing and recording a new album with producer Mike Odmark. The album is slated for a fall release.
