Biography

If you close your eyes during one of Justine Bennetts performances, you are carried back to the Golden Age of the Bay Areas musical culture, when long haired beauties strummed their guitars in open plazas and sang of love, peace and change. The influence of artists, such as Joni Mitchell, Judy Collins, Natalie Merchant, and Sarah McLachlan are evident in Justines artistry, with a style all her own.
The Bay Area has embraced Justine following her move from small town Silverton, tucked in the mountains of British Columbia. With a life long dream and a few dollars in her pocket, Justine settled in San Francisco five years ago and since then, her star has been rising.
Her latest EP, Invisible, is where Justines storybook career unfolds. While making a record in San Francisco, celebrated producer Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter/Kelly Rowland) caught one of her live performances. At the time she was making a comeback from surgery to alleviate a career threatening medical condition. Despite being in recovery, Jeff immediately recognized her unique talent and, a few months later, she was off to Vancouver to record her latest compilation. Their common Canadian roots sparked musical magic at the Warehouse Studios with world famous mixer Mike Fraser (AC-DC) and Joe Cruz (Sarah McLachlans guitar player) joining to complete the fairytale.
Released January 13th on itunes, Invisible is an EP that contains beautiful ballads, political vibrations and life inspired songs that grab at your heartstrings and leave you hoping to hear more.

Invisible

Invisible
Written by: Justine Bennett

Here I stand, right in front of your eyes
don’t look so surprised
I”ve been here this whole time, right beside you
or behind you I suppose
And would you hear would you hear me if I cried or if I died,
would you notice something gone
And could you put, could you put yourself aside
For just one moment could you try

Always waiting for your love, like a shadow
empty till it gets filled up
by the sunlight, but the sunlight never comes and I’m still waiting,
wondering what I did wrong
Maybe someday, maybe someday when I have proven I am strong
Maybe that day, maybe that day I can sing to you this song
And then move on

I don’t wanna be, I don’t wanna be invisible to you, invisible
I don’t wanna be, I don’t wanna be invisible to you, invisible

Bridge-Ahhhhhhhhhh

I don’t wanna be, I don’t wanna be invisible to you , invisible
I don’t wanna be, I don’t wanna be invisible to you , invisible

La dad a dad a da da
Ladadadadadada

I miss you

I Miss you
Written by: Justine Bennett

I miss you like summer days oh
clouds of may, how I miss you
And I miss you like dancing in the rain oh
every day oh, every day

I miss you like the night without a moon oh
a flower with no bloom, how I miss you
And I miss you like the warmth of the sun
you shine on everyone, everyone

And nothing will ever be the same
Nothing will ever be the same again
Nothing, nothing

But it oughtta be
But it oughtta be
But it oughtta be

Instrumental

And nothing will ever be the same
nothing will ever be the same again
nothing

But it oughtta be
But it oughtta be
But it oughtta be

Oh it oughtta be oh, it oughtta be oh
It oughtta be oh, every day
Oh it oughtta be oh, it oughtta be oh
It oughtta be oh, every day

And I miss you like summer days oh
clouds of May……
How I miss you

Lost in Love

Lost in Love
Written by: Justine Bennett

All across this land I've wandered
And my heart it yearns to find
Oh it's love that I am after
And I won't stop until it's mine, all mine
Until it's mine

All my clothes are worn and tattered
My possessions left behind
And my thoughts are lost and scattered
In the shadows of my mind

I wanna get lost in love
Lost in Love
Lost in Love with you, my love
Oh with you

The street lights cloud my senses
And I cannot read the signs
But there you stand in the reflection
And I am no longer blind

I wanna get lost in love
Lost in Love
Lost in Love with you, my love
Oh with you

You're eyes they light the way to you
Nothing left to do but love you
You're kiss crosses the great divide
And I cannot hide
I cannot hide

I wanna get lost in Love
Lost in Love
Lost in Love with you
Oh I wanna get lost in Love
Lost in Love
Lost in Looooooooove, with you

My love, I wanna get lost, in love
I wanna get lost, my love
I wanna get lost, in love

Chanting

Chanting
Written by: Justine Bennett

Who am I to be, who am I to judge
Who am I to see, who am I to love
Who am I to fight, who am I to fall
Who am I to want, anything at all

When will we free our minds and live in the place
When will we be, when will we be free

My mind is chanting all the time
And it’s planting all my thoughts
And reacting all the while, to the chanting
My mind is chanting all the time
And it’s planting all my thoughts
And reacting all the while

When does this begin and when does this one come to a closing oh
Is this the end or is this just the beginning oh
Which way does the road bend, which direction do I turn in oh
How can I be certain

When will we free our minds and live in the place
When will we be, when will we be free

My mind is chanting all the time
And it’s planting all my thoughts
And reacting all the while, to the chanting
My mind is chanting all the time
And it’s planting all my thoughts
And reacting all the while

My mind is chanting all the time
And it’s planting all my thoughts
And reacting all the while, to the chanting
My mind is chanting all the time
And it’s planting all my thoughts
And reacting all the while
My mind is chanting all the time
And it’s planting all my thoughts
And reacting all the while

Who am I to be, who am I to judge
Who am I to see, who am I to love

America

America
Written by: Justine Bennett

What can anyone say
about America today
All the people do is pray
but do they pray for peace?
We keep spinning on round
just trying to put our feet on the ground
Doesn’t anyone know, how greater we could be

Cause our voices are stronger
than any guns
Our strengths in our spirit
so we’ve already won
We won’t lay down and die

How bad must it get
how much pain and regret
Are they really not done yet,
this doesn’t have to be
The blood is spilling all around
My heart is layed out on the the ground
My ears keep listening for the sound
So sweet

Cause our voices are stronger
than any guns
Our strengths in our spirit
so we’ve already won
We won’t lay down and die
No we won’t, lay down and die

We won’t lay down, we won’t lay down, we won’t lay down
We won’t lay down, we won’t lay down, we won’t lay down
We won’t lay down, we won’t lay down, we won’t lay down

Cause our voices are stronger
than any guns
Our strengths in our spirit
so we’ve already won

We won’t lay down
No we won’t lay down
No we won’t, lay down and die
