Biography

Justin Fancy, a musician from Conception Bay South, Newfoundland, has been singing and playing since the age of 13. Entertaining across Newfoundland, at private parties, weddings, and even bars, Justin has established himself to be a main attraction. Acoustic guitar has always been his passion, never really catching onto an electric guitar. Soon enough, he was in local bars and pubs, performing what he knows best; music. People soon recognized the talent and starting booking weddings, private parties and even dances. He sings mostly all types of popular music including country, rock, alternative, traditional, and even classic rock, and is planning on releasing an album entitled A Tribute To My Home, that includes a full album of traditional Newfoundland music. The confidence began when he showcased the talent entering a Karaoke Competition in 2005 at Tol’s Time Out Lounge in Mount Pearl. Finishing in the top 20, Justin was confident enough to take it a step further and perform in front of bars and pubs. Soon after that, in 2008, he entered and tried out for Canadian Idol. He successfully made it to the top 75 of the show, and met some very talented people along with a lot of big names in the music industry. Since then, Justin has been a part of a band called Caught In The Act, that was formed after the Canadian Idol experience. Four out of the six contestants that made it to the show that year, formed the band, and have been successful in playing gigs across the island, as well as downtown George Street. Other members of the band include Todd Scott, from Conception Bay South as well, Leanne Kean from Torbay, and Jeremy Dicks from St. John’s. Justin dreams to make it as a musician whether it be a solo career or with the band, but knows it is a difficult road ahead. With hard work and dedication, he is confident that he will get his voice out there, so that people can see how much talent he indeed has. The new album is the first step to being where he wants to be, and hopefully, he will keep climbing.
