"Who is Justin Thyme?"

Who’s Justin Thyme?

Justin Thyme is your friendly neighborhood superhero! HAHA he’s actually a young adult trying to find himself and cultivate a sound that expresses him through music.

How you got started in the music scene?

From an early age I always liked hip-hop, so once I gained the confidence to put myself out there I decided to focus on making music. I always wrote songs and verses I thought were cool but I always wondered how people perceived me, now I realize not everyone is going to like what you do so as long as you have fun doing it then live it up!

For you as a new artist in the scene, what has been the CONs and PROs?

Since I like the bad news first I’ll list the CONS first. I think the hardest thing is with everything else going on in my life I have to try and find an equal balance to try gain a buzz. I would say in the industry you can find out how harsh it really is and find out who your true friends are. When you’re doing something different there will be people that try and deter you or just use you for what you have. You have to learn that you have to be the one who wants it most, nobody else is going to get shit done for you. Thats why I think a lot of people get a positive vibe from me, because I am a hard worker. Now I think the Pros are I am doing something that makes me happy. Doing local shows and seeing local talents enjoy your music is the best feeling. Every time I do a show people always make it a point to tell me that they love what I am doing! So that one person makes everything I do worthwhile. When people can relate to your situations it makes you feel like you have the support of others not just for music but for life.

What are your music influences?

From an early age I used to love the man MJ r.i.p. when I started getting into rap and hip-hop I fell in love with the way biggie flowed. He just hit the beat like no other in the game. I would say that I listened to all of his material over and over until I could recite it all. I think a big thing that influences me now are people that have been in the game for awhile like Eminem, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, because I like to study how I can gain longevity in the industry. You always have your one hit wonders and you will always have your people who become irrelevant. So I think a big things for me is to just be able to create something that will last forever even when I’m dead and gone like Biggie did.

What’s your method at the time of writing a song?

It’s however I feel at that moment of time. I don’t really have a set method, when I get inspired I write. It’s that simple, so my music isn’t in one lane. I write about all of my emotions, one day you might get a inspirational song and one day I might feel like telling you what Im going through. It all depends on the mood I am in.

So I got understand you are working on a new mixtape. Can you give us some insights? Any title and release date yet?

Yes I am working on a mix tape. I have released a demo called A Week in the Life of Justin Thyme. I am working on releasing my first mix tape by the end of summer. Insights are I think I found a new style for this one and I hope you will enjoy it. No title or artwork done just yet but it is in the works!

What has been the funniest moment you have been or took part while touring or playing a gig?

By far when I had a gig in North Dakota, I performed at a sudanese party and man did I stick out like a sore thumb. I was nervous because it was my first performance but I ended up getting through it. Anyways in the airport we had stopped at subway at like 1am and ate lunch and my friend that was with me must have got a bad sandwich because he was in the bathroom all night. If you could see his face and the way he was complaining you would have lost it. He thought he was going to have to go to the hospital, haha good times.

Are there any more plans for the future?

Hell yeah! I plan on sticking with it until I can make my way into the industry and gain success.

Do you feel you are moving on the right direction?

Yes, at this point I know it takes time and I have to build my fan base and be found by the right people. Other than that I couldn’t ask for anything more while traveling down this road.
