Just Like Monsters

Growing up in the rich and diverse local music scene that is Cincinnati, Just Like Monsters are an exciting new group rocking their way from a small practice room in Northside to stages across the universe. The Monsters started playing together in the spring of 2009. The sound was something special immediately, tough to classify, but certainly not lost either. Beginning as a trio the band tried something that gets lost in so much modern music: honesty. With everybody playing together at 100% the unique musical background of each member settled into a bowl of ambient-indie rock that knows its place, yet continues to evolve. Don't compare the band to Band of Horses, Manchester Orchestra, Death Cab for Cutie, or Jimmy Eat World, but they'll understand if you do.

What sets them apart from other bands is that they are not the performers in other bands. They are simply Just Like Monsters. There is a strong sense of songwriting from each member. Now with four members (new guitarist Dave Constable) the song writing process is fiery with songs that grow up far from where they were born. The performance is in the moment. The band has the ability to zone you out and then seamlessly rock your ears and dance your feet. The combination of pacing, dynamics, and the attitude of "play what sounds good," makes Just Like Monsters a real musical treat.
