Bio

Daughter of an Ohio boxing hall of famer, Martha learned at an early age the importance of fighting for your goals. After hearing a jazz piano piece on NPR at the age of seven, Martha knew music was where her heart would always be at. She began taking classical lessons and throughout elementary school composed and performed several pieces in front of her classmates. Although somewhat shy, that did not stop Martha from wanting to share her talents with others. Throughout High School and College, any opportunity to play in front of a crowd Martha took.

After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University, where she also formed several bands by the name of Just Martha, she was given the opportunity to record an album as an Artist on Leon Russell Records. For the next year, Martha wrote over a dozen new pop songs and gained guidance recording in a highly prestigious studio. Although disappointed by the outcome of the album never making it into distribution, Martha regards her experience at Leon Russell Records as a great learning period. Martha continued on her career as a solo Artist and played the writers circuit in Nashville where she eventually gained the attention of Producer Kurt Howell. Inspired by the unique quality of Martha’s voice and playing style, Kurt began recording and helping to develop Martha’s staple sound. To this day, there is no Artist that sounds like Martha Liz.

Martha has been invited to the stage of many popular LA festivals and clubs including the Abbott Kinney Music Festival of 2006 and the infamous Temple Bar of Santa Monica.

Currently, Martha resides in Los Angeles where she continues to compose, record and perform her music.
