"muGz Interview"

muGz is one of those acts you just know is destined for success. His official debut video Lonely Girl was premiered on cult BET show 106 and Park and his mixtape I Cosign Myself scored him a Montreal Hip-Hop award, not bad for this multi-faceted performer.Intent on being as much about his business as he is about his music, BlackRose Music, the company through which muGz releases all his projects, have a pretty chaotic schedule lined up for 2012. With a new EP due for release in the next couple of months and another video to accompany his single French, muGz plans on maintaining the attention he has already demanded from Hip-Hop lovers on both sides of the border. - Skope Magazine

G.O.D. (Gone One Day) EP - May 29, 2012

muGz is more than your typical 25-year-old rapper. His ability as a storyteller to share his personal experiences, creating an emotional connection with his words and the listener, is what has powered his sudden and swift rise in the rap game. Five years ago, muGz and his boys would exchange freestyle rhymes back and forth recounting the nights events for fun. However, the influences of Ludacris, Lil Wayne, 50 Cent and his older cousin Mezziah, who mentored him, made him take rap far more seriously.

The uppercase G in muGz name symbolizes growth. After paving his way on the mix-tape circuit and putting out videos and singles, he was the first rapper out of Quebec and one of a handful of Canadian MCs to have his video for Lonely Girl premiere on BETs 106 & Park TV show in New York. The clip was also nominated for a 2012 Stylus Award for Video of the Year.

Shortly after, he took the next step with the release of his 7-track G.O.D. EP on May 29th 2012. Im a firm believer in One life, One chance, muGz says. I decided to go with the title Gone One Day because you never know when your time will come. So before that day comes, just make sure you live it up. The EPs self-titled introduction set the table for what to expect - lush production, well- crafted hooks, witty punch lines and intricate wordplay. If muGz rap style leans to what some would consider mainstream, its no less personal. His anthemic first single The Dream, fits right at home in the clubs as it does on the airwaves.

Despite the international and national adulation, muGz continues to garner strong support at home. He lead all nominees with six nominations at the 2012 Montreal Hip-Hop Awards, including Peoples Choice and English Male Artist of the Year. He also continues to open for artists such as Sean Paul, Wyclef Jean, T-Pain, Ace Hood, French Montana, Bow Wow and Trina to name a few. As he continues to work on his next project, due for release in late 2013, muGz plans to continue touring and performing his music live, Im really looking forward to seeing how it connects with the fans.

As a wordsmith and songwriter, muGz places a premium on words. One life, One chance, etched in his forearm in black ink, is his most personal. In the here- today-gone-tomorrow era of rappers, muGz will long continue to bring that mentality to his music.
