Bio

Born Joshua Lopez, JustReaLa aka the Yung Jedi is an American hip-hop artist, songwriter, and music engineer. Hailing from the Soundview section of the Bronx, NY, JustReaLa discovered his love of hip-hop music and his talent as a rapper early on. As a child, Lopez became digitally savvy and, utilizing the technology available to him, he began developing and shaping his sound. He started recording himself rapping songs he heard on the radio on his aunt’s computer, eventually moving on to record original songs he created himself. As a child, it was all about having fun and making the music he loved; in retrospect, he realized that he had been laying the foundation of his budding music career all along.

JustReaLa’s music is unique and deeply rooted in the music of the legends he listened to as a child. Influences like Jay-Z, Biggie, Tupac, J-Cole and Kendrick Lamar, along with the sounds of jazz, Motown and Funk Music have inspired the sound he seeks to create. His music is embedded with that raw realness found in the roots of hip-hop music - his lyrics speak of the streets, love, life, and obstacles overcome all while laid over beats that make you move.

JustReaLa has worked on several projects and with other local artists since going professional. His recently released singles Over Due, the Memo, $.H.@.Q. and 100Bandz are currently available on all streaming platforms. JustReaLa is currently in the finishing stages of his first EP, A Bronx Story, due out Summer 2019.

Outside of his role as an artist, JustReaLa recently celebrated the opening of his studio New Regime Studios located in West Haven, CT where he hopes to work with other artists to help them find their own unique sounds.

JustReaLa is an artist who has entered the arena hoping to redefine hip-hop. Through his music, he hopes to bring back the type of raw lyricism that was once found in hip-hop music.
