Bio
Born in Brooklyn, New York, singer/songwriter Rudo Nightingale has always been connected to music. Being raised by a Trinidadian mother and Panamanian father, Rudo was influenced by an eclectic mix of a very large record collection. From the Caribbean vibes of soca to the smooth sounds of Motown, he has learned to appreciate and respect all forms of the art.
At the age of five, Rudo stumbled across a Supremes record and after hearing the powerful voice of Diana Ross, he was introduced to his first love. I was mesmerized by the sounds coming from the speaker, I knew from then thats what I wanted to do.
Rudo spent much of his after school time writing songs and working on his vocals. During high school, he started a group with friends Kris Mitchell and Jose Alcantara. After taking first place in local talent shows and open mic nights, the group disbanded and Rudo sought the solo route. I loved being in a group, were all still friends, we just had different avenues to pursue after school. I learned a lot from the experience and from them individually.
His first solo break came when his song So Jealous was featured in an independent film. From there, he was asked to write for other artists and collaborate with up and coming producers. This led him to be offered a feature role in the play Victory, showcasing his hidden acting skills.
A chance meeting with super producer and songwriter Troy Taylor, of Songbook Entertainment, helped Rudo polish his skills even further. Being in the studio with both Taylor and Trey Songz inspired Rudo to work harder with developing his voice and songwriting.
Taking the lessons learned from industry professionals, Rudo went back into the studio to pen his first official single Dance Alone an uptempo track infused with his diverse musical influences, to be released independently on FlyNight Entertainment.
