"JUSTUS Review"

Highlights from the review: "Combining the songwriting talents of both bandmates, Justus offers fans some refreshing original tunes as well as some great covers. The first thing that stands out as soon as the band takes the stage is the powerful, bluesy vocals of Stamper. Jen has incredible range that blends well with the vocal harmonies of Johnson. The set began with Gretchen Wilson’s “Here for the Party” a bold choice that featured Jen’s extraordinary vocal talents. Complimenting Jen’s vocals is Tish Johnson and her amazing flair on Guitar. Tish has an aggressive style that is fun to watch and even the falling temperatures didn’t hinder her ability to warm up the crowd."

Bio

JUSTUS is an acoustic guitar act that combines two distinct personalities and songwriting styles producing a variety of country, classic rock, and folk music. Jen Stamper compliments the show with her raspy, bluesy, southern voice that will leave you begging for more. Tish Johnson adds balance to the JUSTUS adventure with aggressive chording, perfect dynamics and smooth transition. Together, the women deliver an unforgettable experience moving fans with phenomenal vocals, harmonies and heartfelt performances.

Jen, hailing from the musical influences of Janis Joplin, Wynona Judd and Bonnie Raitt, boasts a complex songwriting talent. Born in Knott County Kentucky, Jen’s complexity is driven by the simple ways of her childhood home, the relentless work ethic of her Appalachian people and life’s experiences. The spirit of the wondrous mountains and appreciation of the miracles of nature prevail through the message in her original songs.

Tish’s early inspirations began with her father and country music legends such as Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson and George Jones. Born in Chillicothe, Ohio, Tish’s harmonic vocals were influenced by her family and the gospel. Growing up she learned to embrace family values and the importance of those values in the way she lives her life. Some of her later guitar influences include Melissa Etheridge, Cheryl Crow, John Cougar, and Indigo Girls. Her songwriting varies between a dramatic ballad and a happier, singer-friendly tune.

After demonstrating their remarkable talents in Southwestern Ohio, JUSTUS marked the local music scene in 2009 with their debut EP "Revamped." JUSTUS hit the road to Nashville in the spring performing in several venues on Music Row showcasing songs from the "Revamped" album. Following their return from Nashville, JUSTUS performed for the Miami Valley Country idol finals at the Historical Sorg Opera House in Middletown, Ohio and in August joined several other female entertainers at the 2009 International Women’s Musical Festival in Chillicothe, Ohio.

JUSTUS’ title track, "Diamonds on the Water" from their 2010 album, combines spiritual lyrics with unconventional power chords to create a picture many fans can connect with. The album features "No Time For Romance," "Hey Momma," "Walking Dead Man," "Living Together," and "With Me" among many other tracks bringing a unique collection of country and bluegrass music to life.

JUSTUS strives to add a message of hope in performing at non-profit nationwide fund raisers for agencies such as Make a Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society and AIDS research to name a few. JUSTUS hosted the Women Rock for Haiti weekend event in February 2010 with donations and proceeds given to the American Red Cross. JUSTUS also participates in many community and personal fundraising events such as Middletown Youth Sports, American Youth Advancement Services, Progressive Animal Welfare Society and Toys for Tots.

Listen to the music of JUSTUS and you will undoubtedly experience the passion that powers the lyrics. From the mountain tops of Kentucky to the valleys of Ohio, JUSTUS tells a tale of love, joy, heartbreak and family pride.
