"Jason Mraz"

It’s nearly midnight now. The mini éclairs are wearing off. Eyelids are drooping. In the morning I’ll drive to North Carolina with the windows down listening to the Juxtaposse CD they gave me back in Buffalo. They were the opening band the other night. Kind of a rock reggae thing. I’ll boom shock my Vibe down I-95 gliding and swerving over all the caterpillars in the road on their way to the show. It’s no wonder they become butterflies. Being a bite sized morsel for a bird must be hell. They see their potential fast and get on with it. No messing. Otherwise you’re at the mercy of a 6 year old with a stick or a 29 year old in a Pontiac high on espresso, ice cream, and Niagara Falls roots rock reggae - personal journal

"Juxtaposse leaves no room for comparison"

Juxtaposse owned the crowd from their first guitar lick. With their unique instrumentation, infectious grooves and commanding vocals, they were crowned winners of the third annual battle. Songs like "Slain" and "Rebels" brought members roaring to the front of the stage for the first time the entire night. Even those that were not a member of Juxtaposse's large fan base couldn't help but be intrigued by the jazzy saxophone solos paired with reggae beats. - U.B. Arts & Life

"Music is Art"

The band Juxtaposse rocked the crowd gathered for Music is Art Saturday. Juxtaposse's Zach Craig fills fairground air waves with his saxaphone sounds.

"Skope Magazine May/June 2008"

"A dancehall reggae band from Buffalo NY. Their lyrics, however, are reminiscent of early reggae, which called attenttion to social issues. Occasionally, Juxtaposse slips into the purity of roots reggae where they shine. I'm surprised with how five white guys have found the soul of reggae." - Skope Magazine

"WBFO Radio"

What are syncopated rhythms and reggae-style themes doing in a rust belt city? Gaining a lot of popularity. Here's the story of a five-piece band that brings a unique sound to Buffalo stages. - Kenny MacDonald

"Indie Solo"

They took a Canadian audience by storm and were one of the finalists at Toronto's 2007 Indie Week. - Website

"Hear/Say College Magazine"

Sounds like Dispatch with a Less Than Jake twist.

A reggae/rock band that has fun while getting a point across. - Featured Artist

"Toronto's Toonage"

Juxtaposse impressed with well-crafted tunes and a very tight performance. Their songs are undeniably catchy, combining elements of reggae, rock and ska. Lead singer/keyboardist Grant Michaels brought massive energy to the stage, but it was saxophonist Zach Craig who really stood out, both for his skillful playing and for the fact that he looked to be enjoying himself to no end on stage. - Anne Cook

"Toronto Soundproof"

10/12/07 Proof of Sublime's strangely resilient appeal, Buffalo-based quintet Juxtaposse rocked out a solid if short-lived set of pseudo-reggae and ska-infused punk. Someone was listening because while it always seems to sound strange hearing a bunch of white kids from the northern U.S. singing about "double barrel shotguns," "driving on that highway in Jamaica" and "palm trees and sandy beaches," it must have struck a chord somewhere; Juxtaposse eventually won their night and made it to the Saturday finals at the El Mocambo. Good for them., they play hard, and, after all, Sublime was a pretty killer band. 10 years ago - James Sandham

Bio

Juxtaposse was awarded "Best New Original Band" at the 2007 Buffalo Music Awards. Their song "Rebels" was one of three finalists in the “John Lennon Song Writing Contest” in the world category and a semi finalist in the "2008 UK Songwriting Contest". Juxtaposse was featured as "artists to watch" in the May/June 2008 edition of Skope Magazine.

Juxtaposse has opened for Jason Mraz, Guster, Finger Eleven, The Great Train Robbery, Big Leg Emma, The Roots, Ron Hawkins and The Trews. They went to the finals at Toronto's 2007 Indieweek Festival, played at Canadian Music Week and was the featured band on IndieSolo 11/9/07. They have also been featured before the Buffalo Sabres Hockey playoff games in the "Party at the Plaza" in front of thousands of people. They were chosen to perform at the "Music is Art" festival, sponsored by the Goo Goo Dolls.

Juxtaposse had the honor of performing at the Montreal International Reggae Festival in July 2008.

Cory Martin and Grant Michaels have been writing and playing together since junior high school. Juxtaposse was born over five years ago and has evolved ever since. Not until the addition of Brad Lee Robbins on bass, Zach Craig on sax and the new edition of Daniel Powell on drums/percussion, did it feel complete.

They are a dedicated group of musicians who not only care about pushing their music out to the masses but also try to give back to their community. They have been involved in many charity events as part of the “Buffalo Bands for the Homeless”, raising awareness and funds for Compass House and other worthy causes.

With the completion of their first CD, they are eager to get back in their studio, JuxMusic Studios and start the process all over again.
