"A True Troubadour"

J Wagner is a songwriter's songwriter. His songs have the sound of love found, love lost and life beginning again. He is a true troubadour in the tradition of Bob Dylan and Towns Van Zandt. - Nacy Paddock - Nightflying Music Magazine

"4 stars for J Wagner, "Disappear""

Wagner's well-constructed stories initially wash over and then infiltrate your conscienceness so that you just want to listen over and over again. - Laura Bethell - Maverick Magazine

"Featured artist and song of the day"

All I have to say is remember the name, J Wagner. This blend of songwriting and vocals doesn't come around very often, and when it does, you just have to be thankful that he picked up his acoustic guitar and decided to share his songs.
- Nels Richard Thoreson - Denver Music

"Pure roots music"

"With John Prine in his heart, Bob Dyland in his head, and Woody Guthrie in his DNA, Wagner creates pure music strongly bounded to Roots"
- Paolo Carù - buscadero Magazine (Apr 1, 2011)

Bio

A child of Albuquerque, New Mexico and one time park ranger of the Joshua Tree National Park, J Wagner weaves stories filled with red rocks, creosotes, and sagebrush of the American Southwest into tangible and intimate songs. He is well known for writing songs that other performers cover. His music has been covered and recorded by a variety of notable musicians such as Gregory Alan Isakov, Victoria Williams, Shannon Wurst, 3 Penny Acre and many countless others. Along with being a regional finalist in the Kerrville Songwriting Competition, his co-write “If I Go, I’m Goin” was in season four of Showtime’s television series “Californication”. He now resides in central Texas where the Austin American Statesman refers to him as “The number one best bet” and the Dallas Morning News labels him as “A Texas Folk Music Staple”. He performs often throughout the Southwest and is currently touring to support his new album “Disappear”
