Biography

Artist, Songwriter and Super Producer J Wess has been making music since the age of 10, watching his older brother write and produce music while closely observing and mimicking his brother's techniques on how to put a production together. It wasn't until later he would take what he learned and put it to use. The development of his unique style is the result of a lifetime of musical influence from artist such as Jay Z, Andre 3000,Kanye West,R Kelly, The Dream, and Quincy Jones. Growing up in a talented musical family meant that he was always surrounded by different forms of music. His first foray into learning an instrument himself came when he started to play the trumpet at age 13. Later he began to play the piano which would later play a big part in his musical compositions as a producer. He developed his songwriting skills at the age of 12. Writing his own music, he discovered that this would play a big part in his progressing with his music . At the age of 19 he produced and wrote for (daughter of Grammy nominated R&B singer Gerald Levert), Camryn Levert's very 1st single, which gained a lot of attention and anticipation for her upcoming album. In 2010 he produced a single entitled “Cannabis Club” for Northern California Artist/Owner of Livewire Records J Stalin (One of the biggest Independent labels on the West Coast), which eventually became one of his biggest remixed singles on his album “Memoirs of A Curb Server” which is in stores everywhere now. With the recognition he began producing for many other artists throughout his online network building his name as well as a brand for his production. On August 21, 2012 Wess released his highly anticipated Compilation “The Chronic 2012”, which recieced over 25,000 downloads, with guest appearances by Cyhi Tha Prynce of Kanye West’s Good Music, Berner of Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang, J Stalin,Tha Jacka,Richie Rich,and Yuk Mouth . He is currently preparing to release many projects through his Independent label 30 Below he started In 2010, “Its really more of a camp of artists & producers working towards a common goal, but also a brand that will continue to get bigger and expand”.
