Jason Godwin aka JXL was born in Cleveland Ohio. Coming from a musically background he learned his talent at an early age. His mother Tammy Godwin pursued a career as a performing artist but became of her being a single mom was unable to continue. At the age of 13 Jason performed in front of his first audience at the church where his grandmother was a minister. Jason credits his grandmother for the love and strength of gospel music that is within him.
Street tough & Street wise but with a extraordinary heart, Jason Godwin brings back the timelessness of how R&B, Jazz, Blues, Pop and Gospel elements blend together in a seamless musical style full of messages that are thoughtful, soul searching and uplifting. From the first moment of hearing him you're thinking this man's voice is an absolute classic, rich, warm and intense…strangely familiar yet at the same time unmistakably original.
Jason Godwin has recently sign a recording contract with legendary producer Mr. Carl Davis under the Chi-Sound Record Label. Jason album entitles JXL "On My Way" was released July 2006.
