On stage since 1983 Jz James as singer songwriter guitarist composer mixes Blues with Folk, Jazz, Soul and Gospel in a most unique way. Trademarks are his raspy and most expressive voice and his virtuoso fingerpicking on acoustic guitar. As a dedicated follower of Taj Mahal´s musical concept his influences reach from Lightning Hopkins to Big Bill Broonzy, from Nina Simone to Ray Charles, from Charles Mingus to Thelonious Monk, from Van Morrison to Tom Waits, from Staple Singers "Soul Folk" to String Band Music and to Funk and Reggae Sounds.
