"XXL On Me Single Review"

There’s something very interesting to be written about how rap music migrated back and forth between America’s deep South and California’s Bay Area. Separated by most of a continent, Memphis and Oakland are an awful lot closer than one might think. K Check, Juicy J’s newest artist–and Sage The Gemini’s former manager–has dropped his new single, “On Me.” It features not just the Three 6ix Mafia lynchpin, but also Compton rapper Problem and Baton Rouge’s favorite canine enthusiast, Kevin Gates. It’s Gates who opens the song with a pretty, uh, vigorous character portrait of a certain woman.

Bio

Today’s music showcases a new wave of talent, introducing an artist who will multitask with writing, singing, rapping, producing and taking care of the “business”. In this new age of music, the beat has brought on another promising artist and he goes by the name Kenny also known as “K Check”, because he's been known to always be after that check. Growing up in the Bay Area of California, Kenny was subjected to many types of art forms with music being the one to capture his attention the most. In 1999, at the age of 8, a young Kenny had an undeniable love of music, with his favorites at the time ranging anywhere from Usher to Eminem. He would secretly write songs in his bedroom with hopes of being able to make an impact in someway on the music industry.

After graduating high school, Kenny immediately went to Merritt College in Oakland, Ca. With all his friends in the bay area doing music at the time he soon realized music was what he wanted to go to school for. Kenny figured he could really be some help to his friends if he went to school for Music Business, so by 2009, Kenny was enrolled at American River College in Sacramento, CA. Here he would major in not only Commercial Music Business but Audio Engineering as well. At ARC, he would not only learned the business but he also learned how to read, write, play and record music from just vocals to full on bands.

By 2011, with to his knowledge and education of the music business Kenny decided to work more closely with his friends that were rapping and together they started to take things more seriously. He worked with and managed bay area artists from T. Carrier, Show Banga, DMac, to Hollywood Keefy. By 2012 T. Carriers producer at the time was an unknown artist and had a song that looked very promising so Kenny started to manage him as well.

The whole group then worked behind this artist to build his music, image, and likeness. This artist is known today by the name of Sage The Gemini. Kenny, built Sage The Gemini from a grass roots level, constructing his whole social media campaign and helped mold the brand Sage The Gemini from the ground up. Kenny with the help of Empire Distribution is responsible for the artist who fans know and love today. While managing Sage The Gemini, Kenny created the "Gas Pedal Tour" and had Sage performing at venues all over the Bay Area and throughout California building his buzz. Once "Gas Pedal" was officially viral, they then teamed up with Empire Distribution and together they then shot the music video's for both "Gas Pedal" & "Red Nose" and even taking both of the songs to radio. Due to Kenny's lack of managerial experience and issues with booking shows that he took full responsibility for, Sage choose to switch management when he signed his deal with Universal leaving Kenny and the whole team behind. Sage then joined HBK.

By the time 2014 came around Kenny felt uncertain and down. Feeling like he let everybody down, he decided to take some time away and really start to work on himself. Kenny would live in Atlanta working with artists and hanging out at studios. Deciding to return back out west he wanted to get back into music, but this time the artist he would put his time and everything into was himself and he would go by the name K Check.

Moving to Phoenix, AZ Kenneth had the chance to still be close to California, but still far enough to where he could focus on his own craft. Living in Phoenix he would meet and become friends with Don, owner of Saltmine Studio Oasis. This is the same place where Lil Wayne recorded his hit song "Lollipop". At The Saltmine, Don gave Kenneth the chance to work on his sound. Here is where he recorded his single “On Me” featuring hip hop recording artists Juicy J and Kevin Gates. The song showcases K Check’s sound and what to expect in the coming future. K Check is putting his knowledge of the music business together with his musical talent to breed himself as hiphop’s next superstar.

K Check's first project recently released, self titled "K Check" has features from artists like Juicy J, to Kevin Gates, Problem, and Bay Area legend Husalah. With each track giving you a different type of sound, K Check really gets us prepared for the future, where we look forward for the more albums and visuals to come off his project “K Check”.
