"Prince of Pawns"

Stripped of a rock lineup, Ksiezyk shows a talent very rare among rock musicians: the capacity for writing great songs in the classical spirit. Starting from the first line of the opener Prince of Pawns, the record strikes you with an avalanche of drama- tic emotions and carefully outlined mur- ky compositions. The expressive Prince of Pawns video adds to this atmosphere. - megatotal.pl

"K-essence"

"In K-essence voice, writing talent and personality go a long way" - gazeta.pl

"Prince of Pawns"

“The man behind K-essence, Bartek Ksie- zyk seems really trustworthy. Despite a variety of instruments there’s no denying that Prince of Pawns is a one-man show. The music that is based on few motives yet many repetitions is just a background. It is the singer who is in the spotlight. The impressive, extremely well written themes lead the seemingly simple songs whilst Bartek’s voice begins and ends most of the compositions. It is the definite dominant of Prince of Pawns.” - Musicnow

"K-essence – Prince of Pawns"

“K-essence shows impressive versatility in finding way in various music genres aptly leading you from a Caveish piano ballad into the realm of American deserts and bogs of Mississippi as he does in the won- derful “Far Away Land”. In this song Ksie- zyk’s voice shares some of David Eugene Edwards’s timbre.” - Nowa Muzyka

"K-essence - Prince of Pawns"

“The 80’s are back. Yet I’m not talking che- ap pop in the style of Samantha Fox or Sa- brina with their tons of glitter, neon wear and impressive (at least in case of the afore- mentioned ladies) nudity. K-essence draws abundantly from the 80’s dark wave. Bartek Ksiezyk’s first solo album is clearly inspired by the likes of Clan of Xymox and Diary of Dreams whilst the singer sounds a bit like young Nick Cave [...]” - Polska The Times

"Prince of Pawns"

"It's difficult to imagine Prince of Pawns without Ksiezyk's flamboyant voice and marvellous melodies (…)" - Teraz Rock
