Bio

THE MUSIC
Kå* is a Danish example of the special blue and dramatic tone you find in the North.
Kå update and revitalise Scandinavian traditon with their unique mix of aggressive guitars and cello - in their music the deep roots are contrasted with a broad horizon. The lyrics, which are mostly in Danish, are poetic and match the expressive introvertness of the female vocal.

RELEASES AND CONCERTS
Kå released their debut album in Denmark in 2005. The reception was as expected for this kind of music - divided. There were loud praises and deeply felt loathing. But most importantly Kå has achieved more attention than is normal for a band as far from the mainstrem as this one. They have played concerts at the most important festivals in Denmark - e.g. Roskilde and SPOT - and they were often mentioned in Denmarks biggest music magazine (GAFFA) the year of the release. Kå has a small but steadfast core of fans in Denmark. Kå is currently preparing the recording of their second album.

THE BAND
The members of Kå has had a constantly going in and out of the band through the years, much like a collective with singer/songwriter Katrine Villadsen as the revolving point. But at this time the band has matured in to a core of six musicians who act together as a band.

*Kå is pronouced "copy" without the "py" - more or less. It is the sound of the letter K in Danish. The second letter, an a with a small o on top, only exists in Scandinavia.
