"Mama Came to Sing"

April 2006
"Mama Came to Sing"
By: John Hammer

"This is the latest from...songstress phenom Kacee. I first met Kacee fronting for Big Brother and the Holding Co. (doin' Janis' legacy proud!). Next she toured with Joe Cocker. Now, spreading her wings you will find this CD full of great original rockers and soulful ballads that showcase Kacee's incredible talent...I expect nothing but a great future from my friend. What talent!!!"

"Love, Janis" By: C.W. Hanson

"Look out! This mamma is packing heat...the singing Janis is saucy, audacious, and sensual...Now you could close your eyes and hear Janis, but you did not want to, because you would then miss Kacee's free form dancing. That would be an experience best not missed. To my recollection, Kacee is considerably more elegant a figure than Janis, but she captures...Janis' fire."

"...The crowd stood on its feet as
Clanton sang the emotional "Ball and Chain," perfectly emulating the rough vocals of Joplin....Kacee was great....She is the closest thing to Janis."

Excerpt from review of Big Brother & the Holding Co., Borderline Club, London

"Kacee, who played in the Los Angeles production of the musical Love, Janis, did a superb job on the Joplin vocal showcases such as "Summertime," "Piece Of My Heart" & "Ball And Chain." She has the rare ability to evoke & pay homage to Janis Joplin without imitating her."

"...cheering and calls for more...Kacee still wanted another go... and what could make the night even more fantastic than a ride in a "Mercedes Benz"...drive on, Kacee..."

Producer: Tom Lilly
Co-Producer: Kacee
Release Date: December 2005
Style: A powerful and ecclectic mix of hard-driving rock and AAA alternative

Album Title: SEEING RED
Producer: Kacee
Release Date: January 1996
Style: A combination of traditional blues, modern rock, jazz, and gospel, all helped make this blue-eyed soul singer a name in the 90's

After studying at a classical Conservatory of Music, this Northern California native packed her heart and soul and everything else she owned into a truck bound for Los Angeles and the freedom it offered. Kacee wrote, produced, and released her debut CD, SEEING RED, in 1996. Shortly after, her career branched out into modeling, acting, and commercial work as a singer, writer and producer.

In the summer of 2001, Kacee was cast in the role of a lifetime: playing the lead in Off-Broadway's "LOVE, JANIS", an extreme rock musical about the life and music of legendary singer Janis Joplin. Over the last decade, she has performed this role in various cities, including San Diego, Kansas City and Rochester.
In early 2002, she was asked to join BIG BROTHER & THE HOLDING CO., Joplin's original San Francisco-based band, as their lead vocalist. She continues in both of these capacities as time permits.

2005 once again brought amazing change for Kacee. She joined forces with rock icon JOE COCKER as a background singer on his Heart & Soul world tour. In early 2008, she completed a second world tour to support his CD release, "Hymn For My Soul."

Kacee's sophomore recording effort, MAMA CAME TO SING, released in 2005, had to be squeezed into the gaps and seams of a busy touring life, but delivers the raw vocals and powerful lyrics which are the cornerstones of Kacee’s success as a singer/songwriter.

Kacee joined the faculty of the Los Angeles Music Academy (LAMA) in 2008 as a vocal and performance instructor, and director for LAMA’s summer rock camp.

In the summer of 2008, Kacee's experience as a background singer and her love of the Spanish language combined to secure her the gig of a lifetime: singing behind the incomparable LUIS MIGUEL on his "Complices" tour. She is honored to remain a part of this amazing ensemble and looks forward to the next tour.

CURRENT NEWS: Kacee is currently teaching performance classes and private vocals at the LA Music Academy. She stays busy as a commercial singer, producer and private vocal coach for various recording and stage artists.
