"Plain and simple, this is music that begs to be heard; so do it."

"This is the type of music that you would be lucky enough to find in a coffee house or a small, intimate venue like that. Ka-Chi sounds like the voice of a one-man revolution that is willing and able to spark a change for good, whether it be socially or in your way of thinking. It is as smart as anything else undiscovered you will hear for some time.

Ka-Chi is just a guy who plays the guitar well, and just so happens to have a great voice. His music reflects how real his ideals are, and how honest of a person he is. Take for example his track (Give My) Soul Liberty, a song about taking a stand for yourself, and being proactive in leading towards change. He is a gifted songwriter who is socially conscious as he wails “Cos I’ve got to stand up and I’ve got to move something, I’ve got to get out and steer my destiny” in the opening track (Give My) Soul Liberty. Then again, he is such a good songwriter, if I keep quoting lyrics this piece might just turn into something resembling the liner notes of his CD, because I’d have to quote pretty much every song. He breaks into a ballad of sorts on Safe in These Arms, shows off his lighter, funk/soul side in Hey Over There and finishes strong down the stretch with a cover of Bob Marley’s classic, Redemption Song. You can hear the engaging, softer side of Ka-Chi with Safe in These Arms through soft, harmonic vocalizing and subtle guitar playing.

This is a solid record from start to finish, and definitely would be something I recommend to others. It is a record full of terrific songwriting and maybe even better guitar playing; they are wonderful all the way through Soul Liberty.

It is music that has an air of confidence to it, with a certain sense of urgency. It is powerful and passionate, but most of all it is believable. And that is a quality you want in a songwriter.

Plain and simple, this is music that begs to be heard; so do it. "...... Brian Campbell, DCathome.com - DCathome.com

"Local Licks: Ka-Chi, Come on Home"

“Nigerian born troubadour Ka-Chi’s guitar work is solid…..”The feeling that I’m feeling is just so amazing” is sweet….. His bright multi-tracked guitar fills the spaces between his words with warmth and spirit” - East Bay Express

"Ka-Chi: Soul Liberty - demo sessions"

With just a guitar and his rich, soulful vocals, the Baltimore based and Nigerian born Ka-Chi has released a very impressive debut consisting of 5 tunes that often walk the line with a sound reminiscent of the acoustic sides of Bob Marley and Ben Harper (the last cut on the disc is a great cover of Marley's "Redemption Song"). With a delivery that's very confident and laid-back, Soul Liberty - demo sessions shows that he is just as impressive lyrically as he is musically with lyrics dealing with subjects like life, relationships and taking control of your destiny. With a demo this good I can't wait to hear what Ka-Chi has in store for us next.

"One of the best songs by an indie artist"

"(Give my) Soul Liberty" is one of the best songs by an indie artist that I've heard in a really long time (and I hear a LOT of indie music). - David Mislin, Program Director, Roo Radio - Roo radio - World Class Rock

"Gentlemen, raise your guitars"

Music does different things for different people. Some listen to it for entertainment, some for consolation and others for inspiration. Ka-Chi’s song “Give my Soul Liberty” entertains, soothes and inspires. He implores you to take control of your future and steer your destiny to the direction you want. This has been a rallying cry for this singer, song writer and guitarist who comes from humble beginnings in Lagos, Nigeria.

An Electrical Engineer by day Ka-Chi fell in love with music at a very early age. His first instrument was the keyboard which he taught himself to play and on which he composed his first song at age eight. The song “Don’t be rude” as Ka-Chi fondly remembers featured back up vocals from his sisters. He describes the song writing process as an extension of his introspective personality. As a youngster he frequently committed his thoughts to paper and won a handful of literary awards. After moving to Maryland, USA in the late 90’s Ka-Chi was drawn to music once again and considered going back to the keyboard but was inexplicably drawn to the guitar. “When I pictured myself making music I always saw myself with a guitar” he says. He began learning to play the instrument and drew from his analytical engineering background to see patterns on the fret board which he used to form chords and produce beautiful music. He is now working on his first album and is featured regularly in events in the Baltimore MD area. Bio

After a successful debut EP Soul Liberty-Demo Sessions in 2006 featuring the critically acclaimed single (Give my) soul liberty, the Nigeria born artist now based in the East Bay area of San Francisco California has just released a much anticipated sophomore album.

Aptly titled "Come on Home" this new project encompasses his experiences touring around the country over the last two years since his debut recording. Already the new release is garnering media attention and climbing the New Music charts on CMJ member radio stations. Ka-Chi’s style on acoustic guitar complements his soulful sound as he delivers haunting tales of truth in an eclectic blend of pop-folk and reggae music.

Nigerian born singer songwriter Ka-Chi cites philosopher Abraham Maslow’s writing on Self Actualization when describing the theme of his music; evidence of his deep thinking nature which is obvious in his songwriting. Ka-Chi’s journey through life has seen him living in three continents, drawing material for his art from a wealth of cultural mixes and experiences. Music came at an early age, first as a listener from as far back as a toddler, then as a songwriter in pre teenage years when his parents brought home an electronic keyboard. The early musical influences ranged in style, genre, and geography from Bob Marley whose music was heavily felt in Africa during his youth, to lyrical songwriters Cat Stevens, Bob Dylan, and indigenous artists such as the late Afrobeat King Fela Kuti and Onyeka Onwenu.

As fate would have it, in 2004 while living and working in the Baltimore-DC corridor of USA’s Mid-Atlantic region, music came around full circle and returned in the form of an acoustic guitar. Ka-Chi began putting his songwriting skills to work again, this time with a new instrument. His first recording, a 5 song EP titled “Soul Liberty-demos sessions” featured the critically acclaimed single, (Give my) Soul Liberty; a song that captures his theme. This debut EP was self produced and released in 2006.

The musical journey led to a growing list of eclectic songs with a signature soulful folk-pop/world/reggae flavor. Lyrical dexterity is the underlying strength and he has the ability to tell stories and deliver messages over entertaining rhythms and with a heartfelt sincerity. Through his music, Ka-Chi shares experiences both real and fictional, personal or from an onlooker's perspective, and sometimes controversial, but the direction is always positive and inspirational.

Following the release of his debut, Ka-Chi performed extensively in the Mid-Atlantic area with appearances at World Cafe Live and other notable venues in Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore Maryland, New Jersey and Virginia before embarking on a 10 state tour that took him through the mid-west and out to the Western shores of California.

October 2008 saw the release of the much anticipated sophomore album “Come on Home”. This new project encompasses his experiences touring around the country over the last two years since his debut recording. In the first few weeks of release, the album climbed to Number 2 on CMJ member stations New World Music charts. Ka-Chi relocated to the San Francisco Bay area in 2009 and continues to perform and spread his music and message of Soul Liberty to his new neighbors; A musical vibration of freedom, love, and truth.
