"Belfast quintet Kagura blend Irish folk, indie and epic rock to create astounding music as an alternative at V. Opener 'The Wedding Song' lures the crowd into a false sense of security with anthemic, heartfelt indie that isn't overambitious. Wow. One song in and Kagura establish their sound and its longevity. The outfit do soul-searching without being patronising as Fiona O'Kane and Dave Jackson's vocals convey meaning and originality in an age where sameness goes. The vocal arrangements and unparalleled musicianship provide beautiful harmonies in these grim times. However, even more impressive is how relaxed Kagura are in front of unforgiving punters: this and the general feel-good vibe of their show makes them perfect for playing under the sun at V."

Bio

Formed in January 2005, Kagura are a Belfast-based Indie Rock band.

Featuring a unique mixture of contrasting male/female vocals and light/heavy guitars, the band have slowly but surely developed a distinct style of their very own, with many critics finding them increasingly difficult to pigeon-hole in today’s increasingly generic music scene.

Drawing on such varied influences such as Jeff Buckley, Biffy Clyro, The Frames, Belle & Sebastian and Damien Rice, the band’s music features soaring vocal harmonies and climactic crescendos.

Most recently, the band were joint-winners of the 2007 JD Set Unsigned Competition and travelled to London along with 5 other groups to play a unique secret gig infront of Channel 4 cameras and invited guests.

Also, the band recently reached the final 14 of this year's 'Road to V' competition and are set to travel to Liverpool to play a show in the prestigious Carling Academy, which is to be recorded for Channel 4.
