“My goal is to take people away. Music to me is an escapement, a real time experience in the land of daydreams. I want others to experience that, I want to give them a bit of magic”
Kahya……
1. Started writing songs at age13, entering school shows and winning talent comps’n’stuff.
2. Learnt classical piano and Voice through the school years. Was never very good at school really.
3. Recorded first Album with government funding at age 17 in home town of Cairns Queensland Australia.
4. Didn’t go to uni, decided to play with bands for a few years instead (more fun)
5. Got a bit of exited press and radio from lil’ol Cairns and won a song writing/band comps here and there.
6. Recorded 2 EP’s with band in this time.
7. Taught singing to kids and Played in a Neil Diamond tribute band, worked as a check out chick and waitress, saved and went to UK. Had best time ever!
8. Moved to Brisbane Queensland Australia with band. Played around (not that way) won comps. Got new band, and recorded ‘Whispers in the wind’ EP. Made a my space and sonic bids page. Saving to go to UK again.
Kahya’s songs are mostly stories. The music draws on a broad range of styles and compositional ideas that creates a picture to illustrate the story. The music also stays simple with a pop sensibility so the majority of people can enjoy it.
The style is called Theatrical Pop!
