Kailo: Kailo -EP

Tumman kuulasta mutta kaarestaan huolimatta aika pienieleistä alternativepoppia soittava turkulainen Kailo on sorvannut kolmibiisisen EP:n. Solisti-kosketinsoittaja Milja Mäkelän ja kitaristi Valtteri Harsun luomat kappaleet yhdistelevät popmelodioita seesteisen säröiseen kitaramaalailuun ja hallitun isoon soundiin. Nelikon täydentävät Molly Grows Upista tuttu basisti Valtteri Levanto ja The Friendissäkin rumpaloiva Antti Siniranta, joiden hallittu mutta jykevä rytminpito tuo yhtyeen kokonaisuuteen rockin menevyyttä. Kailon maalauksessa on hyvä syke.
Anti-Organic soi samaan aikaan isosti kuin stadionbändeillä mutta myös tunnelmoi heleämmin Mäkelän laulun äärellä. Mäkelän ulottuva laulu onkin yksi yhtyeen vahvuuksia, neidolta sujuu yhtä lailla heleämpi tunnelmointi kuin kipakampi potku. Pop-melodisuudessaan yhtye tekee samaan aikaan kelvollisen tarttuvia mutta myös hiukan yllätyksettömiä ja turhan turvallisia sävellyksiä. Vaikka melodia- ja harmoniapisteet ovat korkealla, sovituksissa on mukavasti nyanssia ja "valmiutta", ei kolmen biisin kappalemateriaali haasta ns. "easy-listening" alueen ulkopuolelle - sukeltamalla synkkään pyörteeseen taikka riisuutumalla alastomaksi kaikkien nähtäville. Tai jotain muuta poikkeuksellista... Se mistä on eniten pulaa on raadollinen tunne ja yllätyksellisyys. Samanlaista ongelmaa toki on ollut meikäläisen korvissa vaikkapa Kemopetrolilla, joka on silti myynyt aika monta levyä. Nämä kun ovat pohjimmiltaan niitä makuasioita. Mutta ensimmäiseksi julkaisuksi tämä on joka tapauksessa harvinaisen taitavasti rakennettu ja sovitettu EP.

Bio
Kailo was born offically in the year 2011 when the band released an unoffical demo and started touring in Southern Finland. The band was collaborated by Valtteri Harsu and Milja Mäkelä who had already made music together for some time. The dynamic duo of Harsu and Mäkelä write the songs seperately and together. The songs get their final form with the whole band when Antti Siniranta and Tapani Levanto give away their arrangement ideas for the songs. Kailo's music is refreshing and exciting, and it has been notified all over despite Kailo short span of activity. Kailo's drummer Antti Siniranta has also played in popular indie band called The Friend that has been notified by various music bloggers and the singer Milja Mäkelä is know for her YouTube performances, which have gained millions of views.
Kailo has been notified even before their first EP release. For example, the national radio channel YleX played Kailo's home recording on their weekly program that introduces new interesting music. Kailo has also won a band competition in Southern Finland called Aprillirock, and has gained intrest from a british record label called Reel Me Records. Kailo played at the biggest labour day event in Southern Finland for a croud of thousands of people.
The Kailo EP that was released 25.01.2012 has been recorded and produced together with Mikko M. Koskinen in the Autumn of 2011. Mikko M. Koskinen is known for his bands The Friend and Yournalist. The artwork has innovative way of using the latest QR -technology and it has been designed by an australian graphic designer Ahmed Salama.
