Kaja Nelson

Kaja Nelson (Born July 26, 1992) is a jazz/pop artist from Los Angeles, California. She is an independent artist who is currently in the process of recording her debut album, Two. Starting at a young age, Kaja entered the music world by performing in plays and joining choir as she grew up in the New York suburb of Katonah. Born from music, Kaja’s parents met through fate brought by jazz. Her grandparents on both sides often traveled to the same jazz festivals, constantly seeing each other. They were eventually all invited to jazz recording artist Vic Dickenson’s house where they met and created a musical bond with one another. As they continued to travel together to different jazz festivals, they insisted that their children should meet. As both Kaja’s father and mother were picking their parents up from the airport, they finally met. A short six months later, they were married.

Her musical influence also extends from her mother, Kerri LuBell, who performed in Off-Broadway plays starting when she was only 18. Kerri was also in jazz band with her brothers. A strong driving force behind Kaja’s music career is her father, Glenn, who passed away on New Year's Eve of 2013 and was a admirable trombone player. The number two holds a deep meaning to Kaja as her parents anniversary is June 2 and her father’s birthday is June 22.

Following her dreams of having a singing career of her own, Kaja has quickly garnered attention for her cover of “Love On The Brain” by Rihanna. She performed her first show as the headlining act at The Mint in Los Angeles and continued her momentum by securing a residency at Bar 20 on Sunset Blvd. Her debut album, Two, is currently being recorded and the first single is set to be released at the end of 2016 in honor of her father.

Kaja will be in New York performing over the course of two week to bring 2016 to a close in her hometown. She will also be debuting the music video for her new single “Baby’s Alright” during her show at Rockwood Music Hall.
