Bio
What would happen if Taylor Swift and Jack Johnson conceived two Asian-American babies and the godfather was Eric Clapton? The result would be band members--and long-time brothers--Jon and Jeff Lee of Kalee from the suburbs of the D.C. metropolitan area. They artistically mix the genres of pop, rock, jazz, and blues by crafting songs which include the pop sensibilities of John Mayer and the technical prowess of Jimmy Page.
Striking raw emotions with his irresistibly sensual lows and heart-felt highs, listeners can’t help but to be drawn to Jon’s endearing lyrics and infectious melodies. Jon communicates his experiences of euphoria, sentiment, sorrow, and countless other emotions through his vivid and eloquent detailing of his state of mind. Inspired notably by Mayer and Ryan Adams, Jon has a singer-songwriter feel and is very influenced by the pop genre.
The passion evoked by Jeff’s lead guitar work is quite delightful. His impressive knowledge of the fretboard and inherent sense of enlivening the music with a myriad of textures and colors truly accentuates Jon’s rhythm and vocals. Jeff summons the guitar phrasing and styling of Mayer and Clapton as he leads with captivatingly euphonic riffs and alluring hooks. Most inspired by Mayer and Hendrix, Jeff tastefully works the blues into pop, creating a sonically interesting mix of pop-rock-blues.
With their love for playing live, the brothers are able to enthrall an audience with their energetic and passionate performances. Their unwavering dedication to the art of music is evident in their stage presence and songwriting. Jon and Jeff’s exceptional musical ability will not only hook, but will also resonate with people’s emotions long after listening.
