Bio

Kaleidoscope are Anthony Sweeney, Darcy Wall and Kane Watsford; three guys in  our early 20’s from the South Coast of NSW who have been playing music together for the last few years. We could dress it up a bit and throw in some buzz words, but really thats what it is. Apparently the music is pretty good too. After our first show we got invited into the studio with Al Wright, producer/engineer of classic Aussie bands like INXS, Hoodoo Gurus, Jimmy Barnes, Icehouse and many more. He taught us about recording in a real studio and we knocked out our first EP. The EP turned out to be pretty good as well, and ended up getting good reviews from around the country and even in places like the USA and France. Check this one out:

“This DIY release is loud, raw and passionate, and best of all, is made by a young, thriving ensemble, who adore this genre, Feeding off the energy of their vibrant coastal home, Kaleidoscope’s debut merges ambient post-rock soundscapes, with the blistering crunch of stoner.” Chybucca Sounds

Because we felt like a real band with a real CD, we decided to drive around the country a bit and play some shows. People were pretty happy about this, so we kept on doing it. Eventually more people noticed, and we got invited to tour with Australian legends Tumbleweed across the East Coast to big crowds in amazing venues like The Zoo, The Annandale Hotel, and even selling out 2 of 3 nights at The Tote. This gave us an extra kick in the arse and we decided to keep touring because we loved it so much. So we wrote a couple more songs and went back to Al to record our first 7” vinyl, and we must have learned some more tricks on the road because it got some great reviews as well. Here’s a couple of our favourites:

"I smoke weed to Kaleidoscope, I recommend big speakers, a bowl of granddaddy purple and their track "Myalla" played at an offensive volume" Luke Henery (Violent Soho)

"Listening to Kaleidoscope's debut 7" vinyl Myalla is like skipping through muddy pastures in gumboots staring into the sun, or licking honey straight from honeycomb, there is a sweetness, an unbridled joy but its still a little rough around the edges, a miasma of a riff, gallops and sways beneath a rainbow of sleepy melody." - Richie Lewis (Tumbleweed)

Since then we’ve managed to clock up heaps of km’s on our kombis and played great shows all over the place. We’ve met some absolute legends and have been lucky enough to share the stage with amazing bands from Australia and overseas. We’re planning to do heaps more of it, so keep an eye and ear out for us. We’d love to meet you some day…
