Bringing together their versalilty, musicality, and extensive range of influences, Kalimero's appeal is in their ability to effortlessly combine musical idioms in an organic and genuine way. Their sound could be described as an exploration through jazz and contemporary electronics into folk music from around the world, from Arabic, West-African and Italian folk music, to Indian classical music, dub, flamenco and klezma.

Biography

Kalimero are an exciting new UK-based collaboration. Formed in the summer of 2010, they have since been performing at various festivals and venues across the UK and are currently developing their highly anticipated debut album. A feature of Kalimero is their use of guest musicians, collaborating with artists such as Hindustani saxophonist Jesse Banister, Cuban-jazz violinist, Omar Puente, British muliti-instrumentalist, Richard Ormerod and violinist Olivia Moore.

The core band consists of four musicians: Italian virtuoso, Giuliano Modarelli on guitar, Joost Hendrickx on drums, Alex Davis on bass, and Al MacSween on keys and electronics. Individually, they are all well established musicians, and have worked with a variety of artists, including Bickram Ghosh, Paban Das Baul, Dave Kane's Rabbit Project, Samay, Gilad Atzmon, Tomorrow's Warriors, Ruby Turner, Claude Deppa, Jean Toussaint, Toni Kofi, Purbayan Chatterjee, Pete Lockett and many more.
