"Kandy Kolored Tangerine: Universal Rockfix"

Soundvenue
If one stops at the odd name, album debut in Kandy Kolored Tangerine chosen such that the states themselves that it is a reference to the author Tom Wolfe, who together with the likes of Hunter S. Thompson founded the loose and wild New Journalism-style .

It is obviously very indie cool, but the bubblegum-colored band name can for ordinary listeners seem misplaced when the band with cosmic elegance and stylish security slip into the black heroin rock'n'roll and shoegaze, like Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Serena-Maneesh, Slowdive and perhaps especially The Jesus and Mary Chain have visited before them.

Together with Frederik Thaae aka (A Kid Hereafter) behind mixing console the Copenhageners have committed a clear favorite for the title of the debut of the year home. Bass and drums are grooving heavy and the guitars opposite floating and spherical noisy. Frontman Tom Moriis who a decade ago also led defunct Pockets, often supported by guests of the beautiful sex with eternal boy / girl vocal harmonies to follow.

If the instruments sounds universally verified, it is obviously not a totally unfounded accusation, but Kandy Kolored Tangerine owner happily on top nose for fine and unusual compositions. 'Today,' 'Blue Sky' and 'Unique' notes effectively, it is not just surface coolness. However, there is room for improvement. Especially at the end of the album is not exactly as memorable as the beginning - writing songs give way here to moody images and great sound. But it is very big stars, we clipped on each of the four band members' chests.

Outstanding moments on great noisy, different rock debut

The Copenhagen based rock quartet, which is named after Tom Wolfe´s essays, on this excellent debut ranges from noise- to desert rock. From the beginning it´s inspired (not unlike Psyched Up Janis) by The Jesus And Mary Chain and My Bloody Valentine. Opener and first single "Flow is thriving, but it is the subsequent long tracks´ hypnotic noisy passages, detailed effects and adjustment measured choral pieces, which makes this a surprisingly good experience.

Turn up for of the heavy Today and Angelene, who inherited a PUJ sound. Blue Sky is moving toward more pop influences à la Beach Boys, while from The Perfect Wave and towards the end of the album, goes into more desert rock songwriter direction (still with glaring distortion guitar), as also suggested in the titles Dusty Road Signs and Naked Sanddunes. Lyrics are not impressive, but still open, and events are managed with great musical excess.
A scary good, controlled debut.
