"BLAST IT or TRASH IT: Kandys – “Kiss N Tell” BlastTrash_Kandy"

Unsigned artist Kandys knows how to keep things hush hush according to her uptempo song “Kiss N Tell”. “Many times in life, we do things that feel right to us but are totally disagreed upon by others,” she explains. “When we feel that lack of support, we may choose to hide our thoughts and feelings and keep them to ourselves to prevent any further tension, discomfort, and disappointment.” Listen to the track and Blast It or Trash It. To give you a little background on Kandys: her sound is a crossbreed between Missy Elliott, Ciara, and Gwen Stefani, but to sum it all up, she likes to refer to it as “glamorously alternatively Hip Hop.” The Queens, New York native may be new to the music scene, but she’s had the privilege of opening up for Teyana Taylor. Kandys is currently working on new music, but in the meantime, visit kandysmusic.com to check out her updates, photos and videos. - Teen Diaries Blog

Kandys Explains: “ Many times in life, we do things that feel right to us but are totally disagreed upon by others. When we feel that lack of support we may choose to hide our thoughts and feelings and keep them to ourselves to prevent any further tension, discomfort, and disappointment. “

She adds: “At times, we want to make ourselves happy, while gaining acceptance from outsiders. "Kiss and Tell" evoked this thought; at the end of the day, whether it involves a relationship or everyday experience, people should have the option to choose what they feel is best for themselves. It's all about what makes you happy inside and that's what really matters.”

"Kandys"

Age is nothing but a number. Words undoubtedly proven by Queens native Kandys. At the age of 20, she has already added songwriter, former member of group Crushed Earth, writer for the closing score Nowhere to Run, Nowhere to Hide for the independent film Pottersfield, directed by Spike Lee’s film student Daniel Patterson (production assistant on Inside Man, cinematographer of Oprah Winfrey’s Building a Dream, Janelle Monae), and opening act for Star Trak and Interscope Records recording artist, Teyana Taylor, to her resume; thus, proving that age definitely has no limitation.

So tell me about your background and how you got started in music.

“First it started as a fun thing with some friends. I was later inspired by my older sister, who used to rap with her best friend. Later my cousin, who works in artist development, took us into the studio, and that’s what sparked it.”

Would you compare your music or style to anyone else or would you say that it’s completely original?

“I would say I have my own unique style. If I had to compare it, I would say it has a mixture of Missy, Gwen Stefani, and Pink, but a bit more hip hop.”

What is the ultimate goal you would like to reach in the music industry?

“Well it used to be to try to score a major deal, but now is more about building a fan base and definitely getting more exposure.”

What’s the most important thing you have learned thus far from bring in the industry?

“I would say to just have a passion for what you’re doing. You have to have passion in order to move forward and to gain exposure.”

Bio

Kandys is a Pop/ Hip Hop artist. A New York Native from Queens, Kandys’ sound is distinguished with up-tempo hooks and lyrics as if she was a crossbreed between Missy Elliott, Ciara, Gwen Stefani and Kid Sister through Dance, House, Techno,Reggae, Rock and Pop-like tracks. She likes to refer to her sound as “glamorously alternatively Hip Hop.”
Prior to being a solo artist, Kandys formed a conscious Hip Hop duo, “Crushed Earth”. The duo recorded their album The First Amendment under the independent label Ajuicetix Records. Their first music video publicized at the NYU Film Festival. Kandys went on to pursue an individual path with her music and began to experiment different styles of music beyond traditional Rap music. After watching artists like Aaliyah, Chris Brown and Janelle Monae rip stages, Kandys inspiration and determination
exerted to 100%. Her background training in artistic dance as a gymnast allowed her to take her
performance skills from the gym and competition floor to the stage. Kandys had the privilege of opening for artists such as: Teyana Taylor, Mickey Factz, and Unique.

In her latest release Radio Diva, Kandys explores the experience of love and life through an urban lyrical journey. " I wanted to make this album realistic, one that everyone could relate to in some way or another. I used a combination of my real life experiences along with my own creativity to paint an entertaining yet down to earth sound. What’s next on her agenda? She replies with a smile: “Keep putting out good music, great records, and extraordinary performances and continue to climb to the top. Deep inside, I know that this is what I was born to do.”
