"Goth Money’s Kane Grocerys Invites Us to the ‘Land of GothGhanistan’ for New Project"

Don't sleep on the Goth Money movement. With each of the collective's talented members continuing to serve up new songs, plot their next projects and more, Goth Money's Kane Grocerys has served up a new full-length effort. Entitled Land of GothGhanistan, the project features 16 new tracks, including the previously-released single "Columbine Homicide." The release is hosted by A$AP Ant affiliate DJ Nick Marino, and boasts production from the likes of DJ Kenn, Dolan Beatz, D33J, Shlohmo, Gren88 and more. Features are kept at a minimum, with YngxVarre and Wahlioochi serving as the effort's lone guests. You can stream Land of GothGhanistan below, and check it out on Bandcamp here. - Hypetrak

"Kane Grocerys - Columbine Homicide (Prod. By D33J & Shlohmo) [New Song]"

Kane Grocerys teams up with WeDidIt producers D33J and Shlohmo for "Columbine Homicide."
The eclectic L.A. beatmaking crew known as WeDidIt, home to Shlohmo, RL Grime, Ryan Hemsworth, and more, has been making exciting moves in the hip-hop world over the past several months. In addition to their joint EP with Tory Lanez (our #6 best tape of 2015), they have been teaming up with underground/up-and-coming rappers for an exciting series of collabs. WeDidIt's latest drop -- release #4 on the Tombstone Recordings imprint -- comes with rapper Kane Grocerys of the L.A. crew Goth Money.

Going off the title, "Columbine Homicide" is a dark, painful track. The beat, coming from D33J and Shlohmo, is a contrast of light synths and bleeps with booming, hyperspeed 808s. There's a powerful clarity as well as a bleak apathy to Grocerys' raps, which often detail murder scenes. When all the elements come together, it's a visceral listening experience.

WeDidIt also has a joint project with Pollari, an exciting young talent out of Atlanta, on the way. We'll be looking forward to that along with future collabs with Goth Money.

Quotable Lyrics

It's a crazy world out here
People killin' peers, sippin' beer
On the corner, call the coroner
The murderers is murderin'
Them dudes around the corner
Fuck the police and the population in that order - Hot New Hiphop

"Goth Money Invite You Into Their Weird-Ass Mansion in the Video for "Cuban Links""

We caught up with pan-regional rap crew Goth Money last month on the heels of their first group album release, when they were all crashing together in LA. By all accounts, things get wild when the whole collective is in a single place, so it should be no surprise that the video for their song "Cuban Links," off that same album, Trillionaires, is a grand affair, featuring dramatic shots all over the grounds of a lavish mansion, including a few very cool aerial drone views. In true Goth Money style, though, it's all a little off-kilter, with plenty of color-soaked effects and VHS tape glitches that reflect the music's own distorted, refracted-through-history quality. Black Kray, Kane Grocerys, and MFK Marcy Mane come through with verses in a blunt force deadpan that barely acknowledges the brilliance of their lines. But lyrics like "hundred dollar bills, my pockets sing the blues" and "Jesus chain on my neck, nigga I'ma pray for you" tweak rap formulas to fit into the Goth Money universe, and the result is dope as fuck. Watch the video, directed by Marcy Mane, below, and check out the group's Trillionaires, out now. - Noisey

"KANE GROCERYS"

Representing Goth Money Records from the west coast is 20-year-old, Kane Grocerys. The Shyne Boyz CEO moved out to California when he was just a kid, slowly making his way into the Los Angles area. Originally from Chicago, the young OG grew up listening to Phychodrama heavy, the underground group became a real influence to his music's hostile approach. It wasn't just Phychodrama who influenced him though, genres outside of rap also helped him cultivate the sound he provides today. He was introduced to Black Kray while working at Mishka LA, the two shared similar styles and mindsets, it only made sense that they started Goth Money Records from there. Outside of the Goth Money crew, Kane has worked with artists like A$AP Ant, AGOFF, UnoTheActivist and most recently Tayyib Ali. He leaves his mark on every track he touches, but there's nothing like the gory content and dark sounds he feeds off on his solo joints. Make sure to hear him shine on his upcoming mixtape Land of Gothghanistan, set to drop on the 7th!

Who is Kane Grocerys?

“Kane Grocerys is a nigga from Chicago, young OG. I came to Cali, niggas were just in LA and just started coming up you feel me. Kane Grocerys just came up, that was always me.”

At what point did you realize you were getting notice?

“Shit, probably like 2012 when I started putting music out like on Facebook and shit. Motherfuckers from my high school was fucking with my music. I'd put shit out and motherfuckers would always just come up to me and was like yo keep doing what you doing, and that's all I've been on.”

Talk about your move from Chicago to California. You glad it happened?

“Yeah bro I'm blessed you feel me. I'm a privileged person and I ain't come privileged. I came from the bottom, like the mud you feel me so being able to move to California like I'm blessed. I got only a mom, no dad. My pops got killed selling drugs. Niggas grew up on that whole lifestyle, gangbangin, drug dealin and shit. I got blessed to move to California, lived in LA, go to school out there and all that shit.”

How was your time working at Mishka?

"That shit was cool man, that's when I met Black Kray. That nigga flew out to Cali and shit, niggas just linked up and that's when Goth Money Records was originated. I was damn near almost signed to Goth Money, but I'm pretty much signed to Goth Money now. That's when I took on the lead to just be the first Goth Money artist putting consistent music out. The Mishka shit was cool, I got mad free shit. I flooded the whole high school out.”

You still listen to the Red Hot Chili Peppers?

“Yeah I be listening to them. I went to their performance at Coachella a couple years ago and shit. Yeah I fuck with the Red Hot Chili Peppers man.”

How did you meet UnoTheActivist?

“Shit lowkey I met that nigga through SpaceGhostPurrp. I was in Atlanta, we had some shows out there and shit. We shot the "Terror Gang" video out there. It was cool, no bad energy or negativity none of that shit involved. I met Uno he was around, bro was cool.”

Any more Kane Grocery/UnoTheActivist coming out?

“Yeah we got some shit coming soon. Definitely, that nigga be coming out to Cali and shit. We in the same state lowkey now so yeah.”

If you could go on tour with anybody who would it be?

“Shit bro Goth Money. Goth Money man, fasho fasho. Shit if I was to go on tour I'd wanna go on with people who don't even be up on tour still like UGK or Max B, some shit like that you know.”

Talk about your upcoming project, Land of Gothghanistan.

“Land of Gothghanistan, that shit gonna go crazy bro like its just all new shit you feel me. All new Kane Grocerys, young OG shit. It's pretty much like all real shit, that shit is telling you about what I'm doing everyday in this life and the world that we live in today. You just gotta really listen to it because there is some bangers on that bitch you feel me. I got like 10-15 songs on that shit.”

What is your main goal outside of the music?

"Shit man to just innovate the youth. Spread my knowledge right and teach people to be leaders, not followers. There's a lot of fucking followers in the game, in the world period. I'm a leader, young OG, CEO of Shyne Boyz. Niggas is going crazy out here, so just teach motherfuckers to be themselves because that's all I ever did. Be true to the game." - Evolving Public

"You don't need no Xanax when you have Fashion"

We at Archive Studios embrace life in every way. Every single little weirdness is part of it and plays an important role in shaping you into the person you are today, even the negative experiences. A Statement which we wanted to convert into wearable fashion to bring our followers inner peace through outer screening. A piece should be created, which projected the wearers innerest, deepest fears onto his outside, wearing them proudly like a banner while still reflecting the pureness of our being. Occasion arose when like-minded, US-based, internet-bred rap collective Goth Money Records came to do a show in our town.
“Negativity is just going to hold me back”

- Kane Grocerys

Advocating peace and love, their arrival gave us the kick to pick up our project: The Anxiety Hoodie. The name comes from one of the most iconic feelngs of all: ambiguously an indistinct, horrifying fear of nothing as well as yearning desire for something uncertain. The overly stylized letters invoke a macabre feeling of cracks and scars In contrast with the all white background. The Hoodie is designed to be oversized for maximum comfort inside your zone. - Archive Studios

Bio

Rapper, Kane Grocerys, has come to have a significant influence in the underground music industry, coining a new genre in the rap game labeled as "trap goth". Hot New Hip Hop blog proclaimed there is "powerful clarity as well as a bleak apathy to Grocerys' raps, which often detail murder scenes. When all the elements come together, it's a visceral listening experience." Many of his songs are darkly ominous with a purpous of bringing attention to violence currently taking place in our society. He has been vocal about how he is deeply disturbed by the extent of police brutality, even releasing a song "Korryn Gaines" and merchandise in her honor. His unique sound and dedication to being unapologetically true to himself attracted the attention of Black Kray, one of the founders of the group Goth Money Records. He soon became one of the members of the 5 man rap group. He has spent his life bouncing from Chicago, Beverly Hills, New Jersey, and New York, which has resulted in him not being able to really rep a specific hometown- something he is completely fine with, as he desires to appeal to an international audience. Not only has the Goth Money wave has spread internationally, Kane's fan base has is not limited to the United States. After traveling overseas for the Goth Money Records European Tour in the summer of 2016, it became apparent that his solo fan base is also prevalent in places such as Russia, Germany, Switzerland, and numerous other European countries.
