"Radio Quote - 26/11/2007"

Their stage act is great, they're harmonies are great. A top, solid, well rehearsed unit. - jandjmixedbag shoalhaven radio

"Hotsource Review"

“When I do give new music the time of day, it usually takes repeated listening of a CD in the background to grow some appreciation and eventually, adulation of the music. Kang managed to somehow surpass that tedious process with me and land an immense first impression, the kind where I am reaching for their new self produced, self released EP over the stacks of the other CD's in my collection.
The challenge is which song to single out. Kang are on a proclaimed mission to defy categorisation and genre and a listen to their complete oeuvre at this stage proves they are being rather successful in that mission. .
To single out one song risks putting a band in a box, but if I can only choose one, it is the lead off track Walking Backwards. This spirited optimistic track is a great example of the deft song writing ability Kang brings to all their work.
It is a deceptive track that starts off invitingly simple, with a instantly memorable melody, which progresses into a hard rock finale. The band's playing is tight, with a playful, energetic interplay between bassist Steady, drummer Luke, and guitarists Andy and Sven. Andy also has a maturity in his vocals and lyrics that belies his youth, and prods you to sing along.

Bio

Since releasing their self-titled debut EP in December, KANG has been playing all over Sydney, particularly in the outer western suburbs where the boys have grown up. Big gigs include a charity event at the Harp Hotel in Tempe where KANG raised over $2000 for the Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick and in August KANG were priveleged enough to perform Captain Afraid of Everything at the 2008 Bankstown "Reel Deal" Film Festival at Revesby Workers Club.

The band blends high-energy punk riffs with three-part harmonies, melodic song writing and a general cheek that appeals to all ages. You’ll be coaxed onto the floor with fresh guitar-based tunes, find your foot tapping along to upbeat rhythms and soon discover yourself singing along to the band’s catchy melodies. But be warned, once those tunes are in your head, no Beethoven symphony nor radio chart-topper will get them out again… you’ll be ‘KANG’ed’!!!

With an array of original songs and creative arrangements of some classics, KANG is a band with something for everyone. Influenced by the likes of Greenday, Jebediah, Fuel and The Beatles, KANG is on a proclaimed mission to defy categorisation and genre.

"Kang is a tasty surprise packet – the great lead vocal is offset by very effective harmonies and rich guitar, well supported by a full rhythm section that is consistently sensitive to the material being performed.” –Claire and Denny Burgess- REGAL RECORDS.
