"Urban Rock Group Pens "Main Title" for George Willborn's "I Don't Want To Be No Star""

Executive Producers Ralph Farquhar and Dwayne Corbitt of FarCor Studios (Hollywood, Ca.) enlisted the services of Urban Rock Group KansasCali to pen the main title for TV One's "I Don't Want To Be No Star" 1 hour Comedy Special by George Willborn Winner of 2006 "Who's Got Jokes" comedy competition also on TV One.

The theme song "I Don't Wanna Be A Star" when first heard by Executive Producer Dwayne Corbitt was thought to be the perfect song for the show. Those sediments were echoed when both Executive Producer Ralph Farquhar and the shows host George Willborn heard the song. George feels the song reflects his rise in life and comedy and feels it fits perfect with his show in which tells the funny truth about everyday situations.

KansasCali (www.kansascali.com) has been successful in the past in penning songs for various movies & soundtracks most recent being Jamie Kennedy's "Kicking It Old Skool" in which the band landed an "End Title" on that features the song "The Life". The band has also been featured on the following soundtracks; the 2005 Academy Award Movie "Crash" with their music video "If I…" featured in the special features section of the dvd. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" (International Version), Orlando Bloom's "Haven"& ESPN's "Once In A Lifetime".

The band is primarily known for it's melodic rock anthems but went back to it roots of R&B/Hip Hop for George Willborn's theme song. Novelist- "We are all around entertainers and producers, although we're black rock artist there is nothing we can't do" Pittboss- "The true definition of an artist is the ability to cover all genres of music and still do you".

"Las Vegas group wins big with "CRASH" at the OSCARS!!"

LAS VEGAS ACT KANSASCALI WINS BIG WITH “CRASH” AT THE OSCARS….

Aulsondro “Novelist” Hamilton & Anderson “Pittboss” Johnson of Las Vegas, Nevada enjoyed what is considered to be one of the biggest upsets in recent Oscar history when Crash beat out Broke Back Mountain to win the Best Picture category at the 78th Annual Academy Awards on Sunday March 5th, 2006. While the win was significant for Lions Gate Films, Paul Haggis, Cathy Shulman & Bob Yari The Producers, it was even bigger for Alternative Soul Hip Hop Rock Group KansasCali.

KansasCali not only appears on the Crash - Inspired By Soundtrack with the lead single “If I…” but their music video for the song also appears on the Crash DVD under the Special Features Section. It’s the only music video on the DVD, although Bird York was nominated for an Oscar for her song “In The Deep” which actually appears in the film. “Had our song been in the movie we would have given Three 6 Mafia a run for their money” KansasCali jokingly says.

Shiro Gutzie C.E.O. of Superb Records an Independent label known for distributing soundtracks whom put both the “Inspired By Album and The Score Album” out for Crash says “This is a big win for the Independents all around”.

While the Platinum group The Killers have ignited the music industry shedding the spotlight on the Las Vegas music scene, KansasCali has been flying under the radar both as Entertainers & Producers belonging to “Da Bookeez”. The group also appears on the International version of the Mr.s & Mrs. Smith Soundtrack with their song and single entitled: “If I Never See U Again” You can also catch them on the albums of legendary R&B Greats Aaron Hall album “Adults Only” and K-Ci of K-Ci & JoJo solo debut “My Book”. Both Novelist & Pittboss are also set to star in a new Urban Animated Hip Hop R&B Cartoon called Da Jammies which also co-stars the likes of Mario, Mc Lyte, DJ Clue, LALA, YoYo, Darius McCrary, DBI, Ginuwine & Lil J along with a host of others. Novelist plays the character Novelist & Pittboss plays the character 7.

Bio

The city of Las Vegas is shedding its image as the burial grounds for artists who no longer have a mainstay in mainstream music. It is quickly becoming known the new Hollywood, “Desert Hollywood” with artist such as The Killers, Panic At The Disco & Neyo, Vegas is getting a musical facelift and becoming the new powerhouse in the future of music.

Next up to further shine the light on Desert Hollywood is the Alternative Urban Rock Band KansasCali, they are referred to by some Vegans as the urban version of Linkin Park. The band individually hails from different parts of the United States and converged in Vegas and called it home to make their dreams come true. Lead Vocalist/Rapper Novelist comes from Topeka, Kansas while Pittboss the Lead Singer is from Chino Hills, Ca. they both are the original founders of the band which is where the name KansasCali comes from.

The band jumped on the road to stardom 2 years ago in June of 2005 with their music video landing on the DVD and “Inspired By Soundtrack” of the 2005 Academy Award winning movie “Crash” (stars Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock & Matt Dillon ) with their song entitled “If I…” over 6 million DVDs with the version of their music video on it was sold. Almost immediately after that, the band landed another song, “If I Never See You Again” on the International Soundtrack of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith” (stars Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie) this was a rare feat for an Independent Band.

With the band coming off the success of 2 blockbuster movie soundtracks their careers began to bloom landing on 3 more soundtracks Orlando Bloom’s “Haven”, ESPN’s “Once In A Lifetime” and most recently Jamie Kennedy’s “Kicking It Old Skool” in which their song “The Life” was added as an entitle in the movie. They were also featured on the solo debut of KCi Hailey’s “My Book” and Aaron Hall’s “Adults Only”

KansasCali just recently finished their debut album “Complicated” set to independently drop in early part of 2008. The album was titled “Complicated” because of some of the things they went through in life, love & business with stories that about 90% of everyday people can relate to.
