"Tobago Hillside Jazz"

......"KAPRI described as the female Micheal Jackson by members of the crowd, wowed with her jazz funk dance moves and lyrics"..... - The Guardian Newspaper

"The Queer Mafia’s “OFFBEAT: Mashed Up” was Hung Up Like Jagger (with video)"

Take a bit of Madonna, add some Nirvana, season with Daft Punk, and top with Maroon 5. Those are just some of the ingredients to one helluva night at Babylon Nightclub. The Queer Mafia (an Ottawa-based network of queer identified individuals who are committed to supporting the community by throwing awesome parties) put on a mash-up of a show with DJ Dan Valin on decks, special guest KAPRI, and visuals by Bustedlimb.

The theme of the night: “Music is like a potato, it’s best served mashed up!” with partial proceeds going to the Ten Oaks (LGBTQ youth-oriented programming) project. DJ Dan Valin had the crowd on their feet, constantly moving to mash-ups like Britney Spears’s “Work Bitch” meets Frankie Goes to Hollywood’s “Relax.” I wasn’t sure whether to relax, or work, but Canadian-born singer-songwriter KAPRI changed all that, opening with (and making me) “Leave the World Behind,” a cover of the Swedish House Mafia’s hit song.

KAPRI’s powerful voice and undeniable stage presence had the crowd begging for more.

I had an opportunity to talk with KAPRI, asking her about the crowd in Ottawa. She enthusiastically commented on Ottawa’s embracing of its local talent, saying how there was a definite supportive community for independent music. This was not KAPRI’s first mash-up gig; she has been performing professionally for two years, and her love of mixes has had her performing all sorts of styles and genres.

The visuals from Bustedlimb featured artistically-edited motion graphics of dancers who were grooving to the beat. It all made for a well-rounded night. Hats-off to The Queer Mafia for booking a killer combo and packing the house. I’m still dancing. - Ottawa Showbox

Still working on that hot first release.

KAPRI, is an emerging singer, songwriter and choreographer.  KAPRI has combined her devotion to dance with her dedication to music to create her own unique and multi-faceted style of Soulful-Dance music.

With her strong sense of musicality, KAPRI is no stranger to the stage. Her vocal abilities were recognized at an early age, when at 9 years old she was chosen to sing the National Anthem to a broadcast audience and crowd of over 30,000 for the Canadian Football League (CFL) playoffs. KAPRI has always had her sights set on pursuing a singing career, however, she put her dreams on hold to complete two university degrees in Communications and Psychology. Undeterred, KAPRI resumed her desired profession as a performing artist and she is passionate about being a positive role model for her younger fans.

KAPRI debuted to a sold out show and shortly thereafter she was invited to host and perform for Urban Male Magazines (UMM) cross-country anniversary tour. In a short time KAPRI has performed at premier venues and performed alongside some of Canadas biggest names in music.  She was a guest performer with NDMA at last year's Ottawa Bluesfest, which was voted by Billboard Magazine as one of the top-ten music festivals in the world.

This month she performed at the 2014 internationally renowned Tobago Jazz Experience; alongside John Legend, Keshia Cole, Earth Wind & Fire to name a few.    By popular demand KAPRI was added to the bill to open for The Voice winner Tessanne Chin who headlined at Youthopia, the newest addition to the international Jazz festival.  Recognized for her dynamic personality and charisma, KAPRI has hosted numerous large festivals and events to crowds of over 10 000 spectators.  KAPRI's music career is steadily gaining traction, with notable collaborations in the works, KAPRI is on her way!
