Kara

Kara is an eclectic Philly based artist that sings, writes, and is a self taught guitar player. She started randomly singing at eight years old, and started to freestyle songs at this age. Kara didn't start deliberately writing songs until fourteen years old. As she prefers to freestyle songs as her main songwriting method. She has performed at multiple College events, at Talent shows winning second and third place at Mansfield’s B.S.U talent show and Rosemont’s got talent. She has performed at Funerals, Block parties, Church events, Open Mics, and has sung on her choir for more than 10 years. 

Her musical highlights to date consist of her original song “Growing up in the ghetto being selected as a runner up in American Track Awards 2018. In July 2018 Kara covered Gloria Estefan’s 1989 hit single “Don't want to lose you” and Gloria Estefan tweeted Kara saying "She has a beautiful voice, and to continue to keep singing she also stated she liked how Kara interpreted her cover of  “Don't want to lose you.” 

Her first performance with her guitar was at the Shuler Community Day. She was a frequent regular open mic performer at Revolutions before it closed down. She performed at World Cafe Live Open Mic. She performed at the Garden Bazaar where her music production teacher was the host. She was featured at Warmdaddy's R&B Night 8/9/18 as a musical guest playing R&B and pop songs. Her first solo venue show is 8/12/18 at 6:30pm at Bourbon and Branch in Philadelphia. 

She is able to sing many different genres quite easily. She prefers to sing Rock, Pop, folk, R&B, Disco, and occasional (Country).The best way to describe Kara's sound is it is heavily influenced by the sounds of Donna Summer, Karen Carpenter, Sade and Tracy Chapman. She can change her voice to fit any song she sings. She is also a self-taught producer and is building on that skill, as she plans to become an exceptional producer.
