"Hip Hop Artist Kardier Takes A Step Away From The In-Crowd"

Pittman & Hawkins Music Group is pleased to announce their new release by Hip Hop recording artist Kardier titled Pictures. Kardier's line-up of songs is clever, thought provoking, and may be best described as "Kanye West meets 2pac and Nas with a hint of smooth R&B". Pictures goes against the mainstream grain, and proves that Hip Hop music can be modernized without compromising its original aesthetics.

Kardier, hailing from Atlanta by way of Mississippi, has performed in concert with such music stars as Destinys Child and Sean Paul, and has worked with producer Devante Swing of the 90's R&B group Jodeci.
Having been influenced by several Hip Hop greats that built their careers on impeccable story telling, Kardier produced Pictures as if it were an audio photo album. Kardier says, "I like to refer to my music as Reality Music, and since a picture is worth a thousand words I wanted every song on the album to tell a real story; explaining a picture in someone's life. Whether it's a party or a heartfelt song, someone somewhere can take something positive from it. The title of the album comes from the many pictures in our lives that tell a tale of what once was, or could be".

The album includes songs that reflect a variety of moods, stories and scenarios for a wide range of listeners. His primary goal is to create music that transcends all boundaries, and that people worldwide can relate to. His hit single "Down Girl" and other songs like "Money" and "Spanish Fly" exemplify his approach. Kardier has shows planned throughout the 2008 summer and fall months, and is currently receiving radio airplay on WRFG 89.3FM in Atlanta, GA. Pictures is currently available for purchase at CD Baby, iTunes and many other online digital retail sites. - Top40Charts.com

"Rago Magazine Review"

Where are you from and what's the Hip-Hop scene/industry like there?

I currently reside in Atlanta, GA by way of Mississippi. The music scene here is thriving. For the past couple of years industry execs have been looking to Atlanta for the next big hit. Most people don't think I am from the south because they say my flow sounds universal.
How long have you been rapping and what or who influenced you to pick up the microphone and start writing?

I have been rapping since I was 14yrs old. I was inspired and influenced by LL Cool J, Run DMC, Rakim, Kriss Kross, Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Prince and Rick James. Of late, I have been inspired by Biggie, 2pac, Jay-Z, Outkast, Ludacris, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, The Neptunes, Common, Snoop Dog, Scarface, etc.

What have you released so far and what has the response been like?

I recently released my debut album "PICTURES" on iTunes and Cd Baby. The response has been great. It has opened up a lot of doors and has presented some International opportunities for me.
What would you say is the most popular track that you have released to date? I would have to say that my most popular track is "Down Girl" featuring Devanna Sweet. It's an up-tempo track about a female who is there for you no matter what. Another track that people are really starting to take to is "Money". It talks about how people like to get money, and turn right around and let the money get them. Another favorite amongst the ladies is "Feva". It's a song about female seduction and confidence. All three songs are on my new album "Pictures".

What producers do you work with?

On my latest project I worked with Cymande Coburn (912 James Street Productions, Atlanta, GA), The Hipnotiks (Hipnotik Productions, LLC, Atlanta, GA), Pitkaine (Pitkaine Porductions, Evry, Ile-de-France) and D.L. (Platinum Beats, Cleveland, OH).
What artists have you collaborated with and what's the most memorable collaboration that you have recorded?

I have collaborated with Mason Dixie (Born Black Entertainment, Atlanta, GA), Life the Great (Urban Acres Entertainment, Atlanta, GA), Isabella Kincaid (Spanish Fly off of my album "Pictures"), L-Beau (R&B sensation) and Eunicholas Haymon (Mindrite off of my album) to name a few. I would have to say that the most memorable collaboration was with L-Beau. He is a musical genius who can literally see the music. You will be hearing from him real soon.

What's your label situation? Who you signed to and do they have distribution?

My business partner (Carlos Pittman) and I run our own entertainment company called Pittman and Hawkins Worldwide Entertainment Group, LLC, and I released my album "Pictures" through our Pittman & Hawkins Music Group division. We currently do not have distribution but are seeking it.

With so many rappers in the game how are you planning to make noise and get noticed?

I plan to go against the grain and step away from the in-crowd and become the in-crowd. I will remain to stay true to what I do, and focus on a smaller target audience and allow them to spread the word to make my following bigger, as opposed to casting my voice out into the larger audience and getting lost in the commotion.
Have you featured or hosted any mixtapes?

Yes I have been featured on the following mixtapes that are out right now:
ARMAGEDDON: THE REBIRTH/DJ SOUTHPAW........HOSTED BY AZ
NICKLE BAGS: GET HIGH OFF THIS SHIT VOLS 1-3
PERFECT 10 MIXTAPE/DJ QUAKE...........HOSTED BY WYCLEF
Are you working on new material?

I just released my debut album "Pictures" so the majority of my focus is on promoting and allowing the album to open doors for my company and I. I have been doing a lot of feature work for other artists' mixtapes, but nothing for myself lately. I am allowing my think-tank to refill itself right now, so I just archive beats and ideas that I get for the next project. So, when that time comes it is pretty much already mapped out.

What's been the most memorable gig and why?

My most memorable gig was actually not a gig. It was a showcase that my old group did for Tommy Mottola at Sony Music Studios. We didn't get the deal due to some shady A&R politics, but I learned a lot about the industry and myself as an artist from it.
Any major plans for the rest of the year? Anything big in the pipeline?

Right now my business partner and I are working diligently to brand and expand our entertainment company through music, film and other various entertainment mediums. We are also in negotiations with the Boys and Girls Club of America to put together a national tour to promote my album. We are currently the in pre-production stages of a TV show that we are producing, so it should be a busy 3rd and 4th quarter of 2008.

What radio stations in your area are supporting your music?

I have been getting support from WRFG 89.3 FM in Atlanta, and multiple internet radio stations across the nation. I have also been receiving international radio play in Australia, Austria, France and Sweden to name a few.
'Big name' collaborations seem to be the way for 'underground artists' to get more exposure. Do you plan to do this?

Right now my focus is on networking, promoting my album "Pictures" and performing. I am open to all opportunities that will benefit both parties, but seeking out a big name collabo is not a priority. If the opportunity presents itself I will definitely jump at it though. As far as exposure is concerned, I have been doing pretty well by just blasting on the internet and doing shows and interviews like this one.

Have you done any music videos to promote your latest release? If so what TV Stations have played it and who made the video?

No I do not currently have any music videos, but my label and I are gearing up to shoot the video to my first single "Down Girl" from my album

Do you have a MySpace page or a website?

Yes, everyone can check me out at:
www.myspace.com/kardier, www.phmusicgroup.com or www.sonicbids.com/kardiermusic

Describe your style in 5 words.

Reality Music That Paints Pictures!!!!

Do you have a direct link for people wanting to buy your music on-line?

Yes you can buy my new album "Pictures" at iTunes and Cd Baby at the following links:
CD Baby:
http://cdbaby.com/cd/kardiermusic
iTunes:
http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewAlbum?playListId=278607894
Would you ever sign to a major label?

Yes I would sign to a major label if the opportunity ever presented itself, but the deal would have to be run through my company. The ideal situation would be a 50-50 Joint Venture Deal, but for starters I would settle for a label deal.

Do you have a manager or booking agent?

No I currently do not have a manager or booking agent. I tried the manager thing but got snaked, so my company and I are handling all of the day-to-day until it gets overwhelming and we are forced to hire someone on the outside to pick up the slack.

Why should people buy your music?

My music is a cross between Kanye West, 2pac and Nas with a hint of smooth R&B. It takes a step away from the in-crowd and focuses on entertaining as well as informing the listener all at the same time. Many of my fans refer to my music as Reality Music with real life stories and scenarios that paint pictures on the mind. So if you are in the market for hearing something new and entertaining with substance, then my music is something you will want to check out.

Bio

Music is my life. My journey began at the age of nine when I started jotting down my thoughts to free up some mental space after my mother passed away. At first it was just routine therapy to cope with the pain, but then that routine grew into a deep love that captured me and turned me into a prisoner of the art. I found myself writing songs and telling stories of past experiences that moved my soul. I have been raising myself ever since the age of 14, so my experiences along the way have become a playground for my creativity. They enable me to diligently paint unmasked pictures with words. I pride myself in writing honest lyrics that I hope everyone can relate to. I use the word “hope” because I pave my own lane and don’t try to keep up with the joneses per say. I know that I will not please everyone, but for those fans that I do please, I am very thankful. That’s the only way I know how to be. I used to have a typical bio posted on here, but I felt like I was hiding behind a graffiti filled wall with my musical history plastered all over it. So with that said, I decided to make this spill a bit more interpersonal rather than having you read a book report on the life and times of Kardier. This is my story and nobody can tell it for me. People often ask, “Who is Kardier”? Kardier is a pseudonym used by a southern boy from Mississippi who happens to love entertaining you unconditionally; be it rapping, acting or writing songs. I promote knowledge of self. No matter what you do in life you must be an individual, and most of all, know who you are and what you stand for. Throughout my quest, I have worked with several artists and producers such as: Devante Swing (Jodeci), Imajin (Universal), Charlamagne (Producer/Crazy Cat Catalogue: Notorious B.I.G., Jermaine Dupri, Black Rob), City High, Oji Pierce (Ruff Endz, Montel Jordan, Dixie Chicks, Sam Salter) and many more. I have also opened up for the multi-platinum selling group Destinys Child, and the international Reggae artist Sean Paul. I constantly work towards perfection in all that I do, and continue to set goals for myself. Once a goal of mine is met, I set two more in its place to keep me striving for greater heights. So I Rise!!!!
