Biography

Karen Jordan is an artist whose time has come. The singer, a native of Nashville – better known as Music City, U.S.A. – grew up with a love of music and respect for her craft. She began singing as a child in church and anywhere else people would listen, including in her paternal grandmother’s living room, regaling her and her friends. Encouraged by her parents, Karen began taking voice lessons at the age of 14 at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music and performed in plays and musicals.

“I’ve always loved singing,” Karen says. “Music has always been like a best friend to me.”

While majoring in English at Wellesley College, Karen continued her voice lessons and took at least one music class every semester, eventually deciding to minor in the subject.

“I may have minored in music, but it truly was and is a major part of my life,” Karen explains.

She went on to receive a Master’s Degree in Communication from Stanford University and decided to pursue a career in journalism, later becoming a television and newspaper reporter. However, Karen kept music close to her heart. Outside of work hours, she recorded demos and sang at weddings and churches and made it her business to study singers.

“There have been so many that have impacted me,” Karen says.

Now she hopes to do the same with her new release, Introducing Karen Jordan. The blend of jazz and ballads infused with gospel tinges shows the range and depth of her singing and abilities and the power of her musicianship. Known as being a passionate performer, there is no doubt the world has been waiting for Karen Jordan.
