"About the Musical Revue:"

"Women of a Certain Age(R) - The Songs of Kantor and Dorn" is, in my opinion, a show that fills a gap in the world of Contemporary Musical Theatre. Over the last many months I have had the opportunity to become acquainted with the score and its organic multiplicity of styles. (Karen) Kantor and (Margaret) Dorn have an individual voice, but also have an important understanding of theatricality and entertainment. Perhaps more importantly, this show explores a very large "niche" and focuses on talents that might not otherwise have the chance to be heard. For me, this is what Musical Theatre is about.

Bio

Finalist! The Great American Song Contest, for "Lonely with Joni"! Here's what they said, "The Pop category was the most competitive category in last year's (2007) event, so your good showing is even more impressive. Congratulations on your excellent song!"

Bio: Karen Kantor co-wrote three songs for ABC TV's After School Special, “It’s Only Rock & Roll” and was the program’s Music and Associate Producer. She was fortunate to have been able to hire Margaret Dorn to sing the leads on the show, after which they began the collaboration that led to the new double CD:

“Women of a Certain Age(R) - The Songs of Kantor and Dorn”.

Karen worked as a producer in Theatre and TV before coming to professional lyric writing, producing her first show, Eve Merriam’s, Obie-winning “The Club”, in Boston, then taking “The All Night Strut!(R)” from its Cleveland beginnings to San Francisco, Boston, Toronto and New York. She wrote the radio jingles for the show, which garnered her a CLIO nomination.

Karen is a member of BMI, Portland Songwriters Association and the Dramatists Guild.
